How to disable a lot of annoying requests to the avira.com domain?
For example: 7040 requests per day from ONLY one device. (Request to ast-dual.safethings.avira.com)
I have never and nowhere enabled permission for TP-LINK AX55 router to send such big amount of data. Is it not breaking some EU rules on GDPR? That's tens of requests per minute!
My config:
- Homeshield PRO: NO
- Router User Experience Improvement Program: NO
- Tether APP User Experience Improvement Program: NO
- Any other feature (qos, antivirus...): NO
Firmware Version: 1.1.7 Build 20230213 rel.74634(4555)
Hardware Version: Archer AX55 v1.0

Hello @MatWolsky, thank you for posting on the TP-Link Community.
Regarding the Avira DNS request concern, we have shared and created an Official Announcement here, and as per this FAQ, the latest firmware for AX55 has resolved the concern.
Can I confirm what other features or functions that you've enabled and used on the AX55, such as Parental Control?
As you can see from the above announcement, TP-Link HomeShield utilizes Avira services. As a result, HomeShield routers routinely obtain Avira's IP address, and that is also the case if you have used any HomeShield feature on the router, which is not limited to HomeShield Pro.

I can confirm, that I only use 5GHz wifi and custom DDNS (no other options like parental control, qos and so on....) - so I know how many requests the router sends to avira.com domains.
Last 30 days: 446,122 requests to avira.com... I hope this is some kind of joke or mistake.

That sounds weird if you have never used HomeShield or related features.
I would like to have a specialist look into this further via email. Please check your mailbox later, and let us know if the issue is resolved. Thank you!

Ok, small update. The problem is basically solved.
The solution is not using anything on the router other than the Wi-Fi itself. Linking an email account to the router means sending thousands of requests to avira.com. Regardless of whether you using Homeshield PRO or not.
The conclusion is: if you want to use QoS or custom DDNS without millions of additional requests - you have to choose another router vendor. Everything works if you don't mind and want to pay a subscription.
Thanks for support @Kevin_Z

Thank you very much for the update.
Do you mean you are enabling QoS on the AX55 actually? As you know QoS is also based on HomeShield, so that's why you're getting frequent requests to the Avira.com domain.
TP-Link HomeShield utilizes Avira services. As a result, all the HomeShield routers routinely obtain Avira's IP address. But please don't worry, all of your data should be safe as Avira solutions consistently achieve best-in-class results from independent security tests.
