Archer AX55 V1 Firmware 1.2.3 - Client operation fails on disabling/disconnecting VPN server
Archer AX55 V1 Firmware 1.2.3 - Client operation fails on disabling/disconnecting VPN server
After upgrading firmware to 1.2.3 Build 20230603 rel.46473(4555) it is no longer possible to disable (disconnect) VPN server. After confirming the change there is displayed "Operation failed" popup message and the VPN server remains enabled (connected). It happens for both Firefox and Chrome so this is not a browser issue.
With firmware 1.1.8 Build 20230304 there were no problems with disabling (disconnecting) VPN servers.

This is not the only issue with this new firmware. So new, it is not even listed on the Firmware page here. It currently only lists 1.2.0.
Another issue is that the Tether App will no longer allow access, and tells me to use Web interface.
That's all well and good, but I cannot assign icons to devices/clients in the Web interface.
Give us back Tether access

I happen to find it a little scary that there is no information on this update, is it just me?

For me, Tether still works but I can‘t update the EasyMesh satellite. Download always fails.
The US page has information on version 1.2.3: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/archer-ax55/v1/#Firmware
What‘s curious: I received the update for 1.2.0 just hours before 1.2.3 was also available. Maybe 1.2.0 has a bug and is pulling an update for the wrong region?

Hello @minimax,
Can I confirm how did you upgrade the router firmware, via the router online upgrade or upgraded it manually by downloading the 1.2.3 version from my other post?
Try rebooting it by powering it off and then on to check if you can disable the connection successfully.

@Coriander This 1.2.3 is the latest official version for Archer AX55 V1, and it's been published in the TP-Link cloud server to your AX55s gradually.
Are you saying you can see the new 1.2.3 version for the satellite AX55 on the main AX55's web interface, but failed to upgrade the firmware? Please try rebooting both of them then try to upgrade the satellite again.
BTW, are they both V1 versions?

@DavidR1974 Can I have the screenshot on the Tether App that shows you are unable to access the router and need to use the Web interface? Check and update the Tether App to the latest version, then try again.
BTW, there might be delay when publishing the firmware on the local website, you may check it later.

Thank you very much for getting back quickly.
I will report this issue to our developers right now and ask them to review the firmware. I will update you once this is confirmed.

If there are no firmware differences between the regions, then why does the US page list completely different versions for 1.2.x than the EU page?
US:
- 1.1.8 (published 2023-04-07)
- 1.2.2 (published 2023-05-12)
- 1.2.3 (published 2023-06-16)
EU:
- 1.1.8 (published 2023-04-11)
- 1.2.0 (published 2023-06-08, but with the same release notes as US version 1.2.2)
Why is version 1.2.0 not even listed for the US and why was it published in the EU one month after 1.2.2 was already released in the US?
Something doesn't add up.
> Are you saying you can see the new 1.2.3 version for the satellite AX55 on the main AX55's web interface, but failed to upgrade the firmware?
Yes, I tried it multiple times. It only says "Downloading" with the spinning indicator (no progress bar). Sometimes it would just spin forever and sometimes it failed with a generic error message like "Unable to download ...".
The update from 1.1.8 to 1.2.0 earlier worked without issues.
> Please try rebooting both of them then try to upgrade the satellite again.
I already did that before (multiple times) and it did not help. Now I'm a bit hesitant to try it again considering all the problems with that version.
> BTW, are they both V1 versions?
Yes, both are V1. I bought them at the same time so I expect that they are pretty much identical.
