Model: Deco X55
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.0 Build 20220407 Rel. 70443

Hey,

I've bought a pair of Deco X55s as I was having constant issues with my old M4s.

I deleted the old network and setup the new one and everything seems fine, except I am unable to install updates. I check for updates and I get a notification that version 1.2.6 is available, I click install, it says installation is successful and when I check again the routers are still running the old firmware and it still asks me to update to 1.2.6. I've done this 4 or 5 times by now with no luck. I've tried rebooting everything and it did not help.

Even though I had issues with my old Decos I still decided to give TP-Link another chance but I'm starting to think that was a costly mistake. Seems like TP-Link firmware quality has really gone down the drain recently, really disappointed.

I should add: after I upgraded to 1.2.5 via the web interface with the .bin file, I was *then* able to successfully upgrade to 1.2.6 Build 20230518 Rel. 60781, via the mobile app. This time there really *was* a reboot sequence etc and the correct version is shown afterward.

So, it seems the older version could not update to 1.2.5 via the usual way, and had to be done manually, in order to then get 'proper' updates via the app to work from here on in (crossed fingers)

This despite the fact that the 1.2.6 is still not visible on the website as far as I can tell (at https://www.tp-link.com/au/support/download/deco-x55/#Firmware)

I have the same issue (and same model) as @nickbg321 - this is my first set of Decos, X55 bought today.

They are on firmware 1.0.8 Build 20220407 Rel. 69584

I get prompted to step through the upgrade to 1.2.6 Build 20230518 Rel. 60781 and it claims it installs, reboots, all a great success yet the Decos are on the same version as before, and still have the prompt to upgrade. Tried about 6 times.

Presumably the firmware installation is actually failing but the app can't surface the error properly. Hope a future update sorts it out !

@mig5 I finally managed to update them by manually uploading the firmware file in the web interface. Interestingly the latest firmware available on the support page for the EU model is 1.2.2 (which is what I ended up installing), and not 1.2.6.

These sort of issues shouldn't be happening on a brand new system, let alone on one that costs as much as this. Is this stuff even tested before being rolled out?

@nickbg321 thanks for that tip, which led me to being able to upload 1.2.5 Build 20230511 Ref 67294 (US version, which seems to be what is available for AU consumers such as myself)

The 1.2.6 I don't even see on the firmware page on their site, so it seems something is up indeed with that version. Bit weird.

No issues so far on 1.2.5 at least, which is a relief given what I've read of other firmware updates on this forum.

  @nickbg321 @mig5

Thank you very much for the feedback.

The case has been reported to the senior engineers and once there is further news, I will update here as soon as possible.

Thanks again.

Best regards.
