Hey folks!

So my network at home uses two ISP's. A cellular based ISP and DSL. The DSL connection is only 25mbps, the cellular ISP is ~400mbps.

I want my home server to be connected to the DSL connection full time. But I also want the link backup functionality to remain. For two reasons. First; while the cellular ISP is much faster, dropouts happen. And second, I take the cellular ISP with me when traveling in my RV and have others who live in my home so I want the internet to seamlessly continue working even when I have that modem with me. The link backup function works great for this.

I found instructions in this forum for creating an IP Group and assigning that to a specific WAN. But it only appears to work if link backup is disabled. Some of the software I use with the home server uses port forwarding which the cellular ISP blocks (the cellular ISP uses a shared IP for multiple clients, port forwarding is impossible). So the server needs to be on the DSL connection full-time, even though it is configured as the backup link.

As an add; does the load balancing 'work' when link backup is enabled?

Thanks!

  @AV8R

Check this thread for more details on that matter.

This post implies that the load balance does not take effect after the link backup is set.

  @terziyski Thanks for the reply.

That thread contains information about how to setup a specific IP to a specific WAN port; but I've already accomplished that. But I don't see anything in that thread about my question, which was how to make that functional WITH the link-backup function.
