ER8411 - VLAN setting for WAN1 has lower performance than expected
UPDATE: The issue isn't with PPPoE, but with performance of VLAN handling by port WAN1. See replies.
Hello, I've found this bug around a month ago, I have a 10 Gbps Internet service (actually 8 Gbps) that requires PPPoE.
Previously I've been using my old ISP router (ZTE) as ONT, and it untagged the VLAN coming from the XGSPON fiber.
I got a TP-Link XGZ030 ONT and that's when I found the issue. Using the VLAN option in ER8411's WAN configuration disables PPPoE acceleration and the speed is limited to around 700/700 Mbps and 100% CPU utilization. Then I got a XGSPON SFP+ stick from FS-com and the same speed limitation happened.
When untagging the VLAN with an intermediate switch, speed recovers to 8/8 Gbps. I've tried FW versions 1.0.3 and 1.1.0 without success.
Let me sum up:
PPPoE HW acceleration works properly when:

PPPoE HW acceleration seems disabled (100% CPU and limited to 700 Mbps) when:
- [XGSPON OLT] --- {VLAN20} --- [ONT ZTE 8648P (Untag VLAN20)] --- {NO VLAN} --- [Switch (Tag VLAN20)] --- {VLAN20} --- [ER8411 (SFP+ WAN1, VLAN20, PPPoE)]
- [XGSPON OLT] --- {VLAN20} --- [ONT XGZ030] --- {VLAN20} --- [ER8411 (SFP+ WAN1, VLAN20, PPPoE)]
- [XGSPON OLT] --- {VLAN20} --- [ONT FS-com] --- {VLAN20} --- [ER8411 (SFP+ WAN1, VLAN20, PPPoE)]
I'd like to use my FS-com XGSPON ONT and I cannot untag the VLAN with it, so I need the ER8411 to perform this task well. Feel free to ask any topology details.

P.S. I would also like to be able to unset a VLAN ID for the WAN secondary IP address (192.168.100.2). This way I can route my Internet service with PPPoE through VLAN 20 and access my ONT config with static IP with no VLAN (192.168.100.1).

Workaround: I've found that rebooting the router fixes the issue. But saving the WAN1 config, with VLAN enabled, breaks it again. This happens consistently, so the router is capable of making it work, it's a FW issue.

Good news!
I was able to test a beta build provided by TP-Link's Support team. It's working as expected and I get the full speed of my "10 Gbps" PPPoE connection (which is around 7-8 Gbps).
In the meantime, the temporary fix is rebooting the router after setting VLAN in the WAN config.

Thanks for posting in our business forum.
It may take several weeks or months before a firmware is released. I don't have any news that ER8411 will have a public beta recently. It goes through the trial and test phase. Or they'll add a fix to the firmware and send it to the customers directly as a temporary fix for certain groups of users. Now, I cannot say that it'll be fixed in the next public release as I am not following his case directly.
But I believe you can get the early beta by contacting the support team or if you need I can check it up with the senior engineer for this. And create a case for you for the beta link.

Hello, are you still using your ER8411 with 10G PPPoE connection and VLAN on the WAN interface?
Is the firmware already public? How does the ER8411 handle the connection, are you noticing issues or else? I'm considering to purchase one of these.. Side note, at full throughput is the device very noisy?
