  @DannyRS I disabled the EasyMesh when the extender was plugged in

Or try this link and use this beta patch ,temporarily until tp link solves the problem https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/617954  test and see if it helps

  @LordBeerus excellent. Thanks for the pointer. I'll give the Easymesh switch a try but if that doesn't work I might throw this beta firmware on. Thanks again 👍

  @Sunshine just a minor update, I have just turned off the Easymesh setting, which deleted the pairing with my range extender, I've then re-paired using WPS. Will see how things go. 👍

  @Sunshine immediate update. The AX73 rebooted again. I re-paired the Range Extender and after a few minutes moved it to the location where it usually lives. The Power light was on but non of the other lights, back downstairs the router was in the process of restarting.

At some stage over the weekend I will try the beta firmware recommended by @lordbeerus to see if that makes a difference.

Thinking out loud... could it be to do with the distance between the router and the extender ? When they are close it initially seems ok. When I move it the router then restarts. 🤷‍♂️

  @DannyRS

this beta patch if you checked that link from what I understand it would be more stable but I don't promise anything that it will solve problems until you do a test

  @LordBeerus no problem. It's defiantly worth a try. I appreciate you pointing me in the direction of the beta. Will give it a go this weekend. 👍

  @Sunshine Latest update - I tried the beta firmware but non of my wireless devices could see the wifi connection, therefore I have re-flashed the AX73 back to Firmware 1.0.8 Build 20230616 rel.65817(4555)

I have re-paired my range extender and turned off Auto update.  I will keep an eye on the firmware releases to see if TP Link fix the issues that the latest firmware seems to have introduced, is there somewhere i can sign up to get notified of firmware releases ?
