PG2400P Kit PLAs Really Slow
I have just bought 2 x PG2400P KIT g.hn powerline adapters, to supplement my Deco XE75 Pro mesh network, to provide - I hoped - better Ethernet speeds for specific devices on my network, specifically a TV set top box (which has no WiFi) and a couple of my children's gaming consoles (PS4 and XBox One). My set up is as follows:
- Main router is a BT Smart Hub 2, connected to a 900Mbps (down), 110Mpbs (up) full fibre connection via an OpenReach ONT.
- A three node mesh based on Deco XE75 Pro units in Access Point mode. The main node connects via a Cat7 Ethernet cable from its 2.5Gbps port to the BT router, with the other two Deco XE75 Pro nodes strategically placed for best overall coverage with 6Ghz WiFi backhaul.
- 3 of the 4 PG2400P powerline adapters are placed in rooms where there is no Deco node, with the 4th placed near to and connected via a Cat5e cable to the main Deco XE75 Pro (which in turn connects to the router).
When I check with a laptop in each of three rooms that have a PG2400P adapter, Internet speed tests when on WiFi (via the Deco mesh) are typically around 300/106Mbps down/up with pinh times of around 75/23ms down/up but when I connect the laptop via Ethernet cable to any one of the PG2400P adapters I typically get no more than 76/70Mbps down/up with much higher ping times of around 165/165ms down/up. My children are not happy!
I tried connecting the main PG2400P directly to the router (rather than via the main Deco XE75 node) and it makes no difference.
Why are the PG2400P adapters delivering such poor speeds? I am thinking of returning them for a full refund, becuase they are not performing anywhere near what I would expect.
