Hi,

I have a router that I am able to set into Modem Mode (which I have done) which I would like to connect to my ER605. The modem has the ip 192.168.100.1 and the ER605 has 192.126.0.1. All of the guides etc I have seen have told me to try and connect via a dynamic IP mode (like in the quick setup part) but it won't connect. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get the router to connect to the modem. The LAN works well, and all devices can see and interact with each other, but I cannot get the connection to the internet to work.

I have tried powering off all units and powering them up in different orders etc, but have hit something of a brick wall with getting the ER605 to work.

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

What's the Connection Type your ISP told you? Use what the ISP told you so.

If you have set the modem into bridge mode, then there is no private(DHCP) IP assigned to your ER605. So you should follow exactly what your ISP told you. Either dial for the connection or dynamic IP to request one.

DYN does not seem to be the right connection type, so ask your ISP or check your modem WAN connection and copy its settings to ER605(WAN).

While in Modem mode, the VM hub only allows one device to connect to it, by ethernet cable only. This should be in the bottom ethernet port, and will obtain a *public* IP address via DHCP.

So you are correct, the ER605 WAN should be set to Dynamic IP.

I know it can work as I have a colleague using an ER605 with a VM hub in modem mode.

Note that modem mode is not possible on the latest VM hub though...
