RE705X is very unstable when Easy Mesh with Ethernet Backhaul is enabled
RE705X is very unstable when Easy Mesh with Ethernet Backhaul is enabled.
I have 2 devices:
AX55 and RE705X, apparently both devices should support an Easy Mesh supported devices list, and with the latest beta update https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/636954 I should be able to use my AX55 and RE705X with the Ethernet Backhaul.
But my RE705X becomes so unstable and keeps dropping the wifi connection every minute that is unusable via the Ethernet Backhaul when Easy Mesh is enabled. Works fine when I use wireless connectivity.
As you can see, my RE705X uses the Ethernet Backhaul, but the wifi connection is extremely unstable and keeps dropping every minute.

Hi, Nice to see you again.
As confirmed with the engineers, the latest firmware of RE705X-V1 does not support Ethernet Backhaul. The web UI display is sort of confusing.
The instability issue is likely caused by the Ethernet connection which might cause the network loop between AX55 and RE705X.
So it is suggested to keep RE705x wirelessly connected to AX55 to create EasyMesh over Wireless Backhaul only.
Thank you very much and best regards.

Hi David!
Thank you for looking at this.
Because on the official website RE705X is listed as EasyMesh supported device, and the Web UI displays a successful wired connection under the Easy Mesh settings, I assumed RE705X has some kind of Ethernet Backhaul support.
"As confirmed with the engineers, the latest firmware of RE705X does not support Ethernet Backhaul"
On that note, could you please tell me if I should expect some kind of firmware update for RE705X any time soon?

Also what I have noticed, it is very hard for us customers to define which RE supports Ethernet Backhaul when using Easy Mesh.
I see that RE315 already has Easy Mesh Ethernet Backhaul: forum thread.
But if you look at RE705X and RE315 product pages, you can see that both devices have official Easy Mesh support, but nowhere is mentioned whether it is Wireless or Ethernet Backhaul. This is how I was tricked when buying RE705X, because I assumed both, Wireless and Ethernet Backhaul are supported on Easy Mesh. Because not in the product page, nor the product package box does it mention this specific information.

@Ernis I also have an ax55 with the RE705x V1 (running 1.1.4) and have used wireless back-haul with EasyMesh and it is also unstable and have a support case open with TP-link as it just keeps dropping out the connectivity to the devices. I have basically just resorted to disabling EasyMesh and using a different SSID for the RE705X in repeater mode. Really defeats the purpose of having a mesh capability. I am really disappointed in TP-Link as they have not been clear on what is supported, and the RE705X should be a great device on paper, bit fails miserably when using any form of EasyMesh.

@Ernis Hi, I also have a 705 v.1 and I'm waiting for the new fw to be released.
The last fw was released about a year ago and it would be necessary to update...

Keep an eye on this thread for any new RE model which supports Easyemesh via ethernet backhaul.
