Hi,

I added an RE700X to my exitent Home wileress lan in extender mode.
Repeater is counfigured in high speed mode:

 - 5GHz as uplink with the exitent wirless

 - 2.4GHz as extended wireless

Easy mesh and DHCP server is set to disable on the extender

Extender LAN is configured to retrieve address from a DHCP server on the Home LAN

I configured the Homa LAN DHCP server to assign fixed address to the extender (.249)

From extender log I can see that it retrieve multiple address from DHCP server.
If I try to reach the extender web interface on the fixed assigned ip (.249) it isn't reacheable and I need to use the first address (.144)
The problem is that the .144 address is dynamically and that it is not tracked in my dhcp server.
For the Extender on the log of my LAN DHCP Server I see the error: "Failed connection to SSID xxxxxxxxxx on access point yyyyyyyyyyyy because the client rejected the DHCP server’s offer.t rejected the DHCP server’s offer.

I suppose a bug in the firmware.

  @Runner973

Hi,

On my model RE305 range extender the MAC address that can be used to assign an IP address via DHCP is the MAC address that is printed on the label on the backside of the RE305.

So, in case the MAC address that is currently used in your DHCP server to assign 192.168.4.249 to is not the one printed on the label of your RE700X, then you could try what happens if you manually enter the MAC address from the label into your DHCP server and have it assign 192.168.4.249 to it.

If the above doesn't work either, then your last option would be to manually set an IP address directly on the RE700X. (just make sure you enter the correct Gateway and DNS addresses)

Unfortunatelly seems a really bug of the firmware.
added 3 fix entry in DHCP using the MAC Address in the Access control page

I found a log in my server where for each of these tree entries the Mac Address is announced as ff.ff.ff.ff.ff.ff

IP MAC
192.168.4.248 ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
192.168.4.249 ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
192.168.4.250 ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

So at this point definitively a bug in the firmware for my opinion. I can't assign a static ip address due to network policy of my wifi that deny access to a client whitout address assigned from dhcp.

This is the log on RE700X that confirm the fact about repeater don't use the address received from dhcp (.249) and still accessible on the first one that is not tracked on dhcp server (.250)

"added 3 fix entries in DHCP using the MAC Address in the Access control page"

Did you reserve three IP addresses(4.249;4.250;4.251) for the 2.4/5/LAN MAC address individually on the host router?

But later all three entries in the router logs reported the same MAC address.

Did it help if you just added one fixed IP using the LAN MAC address?

By the way, have you checked what is the MAC address on the host router when RE700x is obtaining the IP address automatically without any fix entries?

Best regards.

HI  @David-TP ,

yes I reserved 3 different ip address for each MAC address.
On my router the associated mac address / ip is as expected, but unfortunately the repeater continue to response to the original first obtained ip.
If I left totally dynamic assignement the ip assigned to router not correspond to the ip where the repeater answer. The second assigned ip is how is tracked on router, the first ip in the log is the ip where the repeater respond.

Regards
