Troubleshooting Unable to Update Firmware on the Deco APP
All Deco works together and for a mixed Mesh system, please try to identify which Deco that can't be updated.
Failed to update the main Deco
1. Disconnect the main Deco from your front-end modem/router, and restart both the main Deco and the modem/router. After that, try "Update Deco" again on the Deco app.
2. If the problem still exists, please try to manually update the Deco via its web interface.
Failed to update the satellite Deco
1. Restart the main Deco, put the satellite Deco closer to the main Deco, and try to update again.
2. If the problem still exists, please log into the individual web UI of this satellite Deco to upload the firmware:
- The IP address of this satellite could be found on the Deco APP, such as:
- Launch a web browser, and enter the above IP address, such as http://192.168.71.250.
- The login username and password here are the same as the Deco APP login ID and password
Tips:
1. Try to "Check for Updates" on Deco APP>More>Sysyem>Update Deco via 4G/5G mobile data if the local Wi-Fi connection doesn't succeed.
1. For manual firmware upgrade, it is suggested to connect the laptop via an Ethernet cable to the Deco when trying to manually update its firmware.
2. The upload firmware file should be a bin.file, not zip.file.
QA
1. Deco APP reports "Firmware is up-to-date" while there is new firmware from the official website.
It is very likely your firmware is up-to-date. There are multiple hardware versions, like V1/2/3/4 and the new firmware might be for another hardware.
If the new firmware does match your hardware, the Deco firmware upgrade is applied in sequence to the correct devices during the release process. So not all users get the new firmware notification in the first place. It is suggested to check for firmware upgrades regularly.
For more details, please refer to Update Deco.
2. "New firmware is available" is received in the Message, but Deco APP failed to "check for Updates"/install the new firmware.
The online upgrade might be blocked by the firewall or the current internet connection was interrupted.
You could view the official website first to download the correct bin. file, then manually update the firmware via web UI.
