Model: Deco E4
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I was looking for a mesh device that lets me connect my full home, and I came across Deco E4. The price was reasonable for me. I saw the speed is written 1000+ Mbps. So didn't think anything else. I am a real fan of TP-Link, and that gave me assurance that it won't be a bad device.

I bought the device, flew to another country, and now I know that I'm doomed! Cause, since the Deco E4 has only 100Mbps ports, and the main device needs to be connected via the 100Mbps port, I am getting only 100Mbps all over the house.

I am not sure why a company like TP-Link did this fake advertising. You may say something different, but it's clearly fake advertising.

Now, I need your help & suggestions. Is there an easy way to increase the speed? If not, should I just throw away this device and stop trusting TP-Link?

Hi, welcome to the community.

May I know how much of your internet bandwidth?

All Deco works together. You could add a gigabit Deco into the Mesh system, like Deco M5/M4(M5 would be better), and wirelessly connect the E4 to Deco M5.

Can different Deco models work together?

Thank you very much and best regards.

@David-TP my internet connection has 400-800 Mbps. Getting a M5 won't save me! I believe I'll need to get two.

My router is in the road side room, where my computer is in the other side of the building. From my modem M5 will take full speed, but when I connect my PC to another E4, it'll give 100Mbps! That means near my PC I need another M5.

Don't you think so?

Hi, Thanks for the update.

If the internet bandwidth is over 500m/s, I think you could go for our Wi-Fi 6 series, like Deco X50/Deco X20.

For M5, Its wireless specification is
5 GHz: 867 Mbps (802.11ac)
2.4 GHz: 400 Mbps (802.11n)

With the link speed of 867 m/s over 5 GHz, the expected internet speed would be about 350-600m/s according to the Wi-Fi distance and interference.

So It would be great if you use a pair of Deco X50/Deco X20.
