Hi, max capacity is usually tested under an ideal environment lab. Besides, as the device is a travel router, it is hard to guarantee the exact number.

Taking into account reasonable performance and result, it is suggested to connect clients less than 30.

Hi,

Nice, finally a router from TP-Link that supports USB Tethering.

But I have a question. Does the TL-WR1502X support the DFS channels in the 5 GHz band, so that it can connect to Wi-Fi networks that are broadcasting on DFS channels when using it in Hotspot mode, Range Extender mode or Client mode?

Hi, upon checking, only US version of TL-WR1502X is shipped, and I am afraid the DFS channels are not supported.

Once there is any update regarding EU version of this model, I will let you know.

@Sunshine will there be any trade in or upgrade programs offered for anyone who bought the TL-WR902AC in the last few weeks? I did not see this new product at any online or regular retailers in the United States.

If I had known its existence I would've purchased this new model instead.

I only found this post and one other official product page after searching the model number on Google, due to I saw it listed in the compatible models list in the Tether app. Unfortunately my model is not listed even though it was suggested to me during original setup.

This device is littered with bugs:

1. The CPU and Memory graphs disappear on the Network Map screen, when it loads additional data for Internet Status

2. The TP-Link ID won't stay bound to the unit. You have to re-bind it every time you reboot
3. The VPN feature won't route all traffic over the VPN, I've tried OpenVPN and L2TP, It still won't do whats advertised.
4. Doesn't seem to work with iPhone tethering just hangs

I'm about to email support and see what is going on here.

/b

i agree  @briankwest this thing is garbage.. Shame on TPLINK releasing this junk.

I was able to connect my PIA VPN with their OpenVPN process, and that seems to be ok.

However the iPhone won't connect to this and the Tether App work.  I mean, i'm connected via WIFI on my iphone

and tried both bands. The Tether app doesn't think I'm connected and I can't access the tplinkwifi.net site even.

I have allowed local network on the iphone for the app as well running an iPhone 15 Pro Max with latest iOS.

If I change to HotSpot mode, that seems to work ok, but in Router mode, its junk.

I would like to use my iPhone as the Internet HotSpot, but I believe it will not work with this travel router as advertised.

The USB port is 3G/4G only, and iPhone is 5G. Therefore will probably never work.

I have tried numerous ways, even setting personal hotspot on the iPhone to USB mode. NADA.

Guessing this is all false marketing on using an iPhone, or its an older pre 5G approach they used.

I did check for firmware updates, and nada..  So out of box is current.

Hey TPLINK Support,  how the heck do you use a 5G iPhone with this in router mode?

Thanks
