Hi,

I have a device that doesn´t support wi-fi connection, only ethernet cable. Is there anyway I could directly connect this device to a Deco mesh router with an ethernet cable?

Please, can you also provide me a list of the Deco mesh router models that could support this requirement?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Carlos.

  @cballock

You can connect such device to any available Ethernet port of any Deco unit in your WiFi mesh: both Main Deco and Satellite Decos. Deco Ethernet port behaves like LAN Ethernet port of networking switch.

Deco mesh does not like devices that have static IP address configured on them. There are very few types of devices which require configuration of IP address on device, but they do exist. As long as device can request IP address dynamically from the router, you should have no issues hardwiring it to Deco unit. You can set IP reservation for device in Deco app, if you need static IP address for device.

Mentioning that to cover all possibilities.

  @cballock you could also buy pretty much any cheap WiFi extender with an ethernet port. The TP-Link AC1200 is much cheaper than a new Deco unit and would allow you to plug the wired device into the ethernet port, then use the AC1200 to connect to the Deco mesh network you already have. Depending on the speed required for the wired device you could spend more for a faster wifi connection too.
