S210/S220 Automation Delay
S210/S220 Automation Delay
I have several S210s and S220s. One of the S220s has one switch connected to mains lights, and the other not connected to anything. Instead, I use the switch to trigger an automation to toggle another S220 switch. When using the switch, there's a delay if a couple of seconds (doesn't sound long, but long enough to notice and be annoying).
When using the Tapo app or even Google Home to trigger any of the switches it's immediate.
Given the switches are HAN/Zigbee, I can't use something like Home Assistant to try an alternative automation, and Google Home doesn't have a "toggle" automation, which complicates it as an alternative.
Any ideas or tips to make it faster?

What's the approximate delay time? 1-2 seconds? 3-5 seconds?
Can you check the signal strength of the switch? (App ->Device's Settings ->Device Info, click the signal icon to check the RSSI rate.) If it gets a weak signal, try to move the hub closer to it.
Please also check the signal strength of the hub as well.
Strong: more than -50 dBm Good to Average: among -70 dBm to-50 dBm Poor: less than -70 dBm
Note: If RSSI is less than -70dBm, the signal is too weak. |

Please check if you have added any delay to the automation rules. Which Tapo hub are you using, the H100 or H200?
If it is the H100, a local smart rule should be faster. Can you share some of the automation settings here?

Are you suggesting there is still a 2.5s delay after the "delay shut off"? What if you disable the delay shut off?
