Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.2.4

Hi!

I'm currently experiencing a strange problem with my Omada Setup.

I'm using the following devices:

OC200 Controller HW: v1.0, FW: 5.13.30.20

ER605 Router HW: 2.0, FW: 2.2.4

TL-SG2428P Switch HW: 4.0, FW: 4.0.8

I have 3 Internet Service Providers

WAN: Vodafone Cable, IPv6 with /62 prefix delegation and dynamic IPv4

WAN1: STARLINK, IPv6 with /56 prefix delegation and CGNAT IPv4

WAN2: Freifunk, IPv6 passthrough and dynamic IPv4

WAN (Vodafone)

WAN/LAN1 (Starlink)

WAN/LAN2 (FFF)

I have set up several LAN networks with different VLANs.

For these networks I have configured IPv6 like this (for WAN Vodafone and WAN/LAN1 Starlink):

IPv6 network

With ISP Vodafone I'm using IPv6 prefix ID: 0, 1 and 2 in three different LAN networks

Prefix Delegation Interface is WAN

With ISP Starlink I'm using IPv6 prefix ID: 0 and 1 in two different LAN networks

Prefix Delegation Interface is WAN/LAN1

And now the following happens:

Once ISP Vodafone on WAN and ISP Starlink are connected with both IPv6 and IPv4, the IPv6 Adresses only work for one of the two providers.

As soon as I disconnect the IPv6 connection to Vodafone, IPv6 works in the LAN networks of STARLINK

And vice versa: As soon as I disconnect the IPv6 connection to STARLINK, IPv6 works in the LAN networks of Vodafone.

Currently I'm getting around this problem by using two ER605 routers. But actually I want to get both ISP running on one router. I just don't know where else to look because it just doesn't work.

ISP Freifunk with IPv6 passthrough is working fine all the time.

Can someone give advice to resolve this issue?

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely yours

Patrick

Hi @Patrick_MG

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

IPv6 does not support load balancing.

Only one WAN is utilized as the default route at a time.

  @Clive_A

Hi Clive, thanks for your reply.

If IPv6 failover is not yet supported, then I now understand why I have these problems.

Do you know if IPv6 failover support will be available at some point? Is further development of the firmware planned in this direction?

I know that in many regions IPv6 does not play a particularly important role. But in my region IPv4 addresses are scarce and it is no longer so easy to get them from the ISP.

Sorry that I don't have a roadmap for that. The v6 features are slowly added to the system. Now we are still working on implementing the v4 features. And the scale is leaning to the v4 now.
