Model: Deco X10
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.6 Build 20240111 Rel. 84231

I have a system of two Deco X10s (Running in Access Point mode) set up in my home mesh wifi system and my mobile devices are usually always connected to the main node since it's closest most of the time. Sometimes even during heavy usage the wifi performance slows to a crawl and then disconnects altogether. This happens to my iPhone 14 Pro and my Samsung Galaxy S23. Turning the wifi off and then on solves the problem but this needs to be done once almost everyday. I have checked the system logs and during the time of disconnection this line appears:

Wed Jul 31 19:18:39 2024 daemon.info hostapd: wlan1-vap1: STA xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx IEEE 802.11: deauthenticated due to inactivity (timer DEAUTH/REMOVE)

So far I have followed some of the remedies suggested in other forums like turning off Mesh Technology for my devices. Also turned off the use private address feature on the iPhone but still this problem persists.

The firmware for both the Deco X10 units are at its latest version.

Hi,

Thanks for posting in the community.

Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

1. Will the two devices have WIFI connection or it will also disconnect from Deco WIFI?

2. Careate a no encryption guest network and test if the two devices can stably connect to the guest network.

3. Disable fast roaming and beamforming.

If the issue still exists, please provide the results/answers of every above mentioned steps and also your network topolog.

  @Sunshine

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out and providing some pointers. I have gone ahead with them and here's what I found:

1. Will the two devices have WIFI connection or it will also disconnect from Deco WIFI?

From the Samsung's point of view, the wifi connection from the Deco just drops off. Visually, it would be something like the wifi indicator on the top status bar of the phone screen disappearing. I didn't almost notice it until the "No Internet" page appeared on chrome which I was using at the moment.

2. Create a no encryption guest network and test if the two devices can stably connect to the guest network.

Tried this and my phone was able to establish a connection without a hitch

3. Disable fast roaming and beamforming.

Ok, this was one of the methods I have come across when going through all the forums right here and elsewhere. I did try turning off beamforming and that didnt bring about anything different, but i'm not sure where the fast roaming option is inside the app. A quick google search would tell you that it is inside the advanced section but for me it just isn't there! Is this because of the model/version of the Deco I'm using? I have attached a screenshot of whatever appears inside More > Advanced section of the Deco App

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

For your case, we would like to collect the following information and then escalate it to our senior engineers to better check the issue you met.

May I confirm are the two devices connecting to the 2.4G or 5G on the host WIFI and guest WIFI?

And what is the security type of the host WIFI?

Can the other devices connect stably?
