DLNA Port Forwarding for USB drive
I have a TP Link AC1200 Archer VR400 modem router.
I have a USB drive plugged into its port. Everything worked fine
Got a ASUS Mesh System and now I can't access the drive in my PC (DLNA). I can access by ftp though
I don't know if it's a port forwarding issue, but can't find out the ip address of the drive. Doesn't show it on the 192.168. XX XX WEBPAGE, only shows the drive name etc (sda1).
Can anyone help with how to access the drive via DLNA from outside the network?

The shared USB drive plugged into the VR400 is accessed via the same IP address as the VR400 itself (i.e. the LAN IP address).
If you currently have the main unit of the ASUS Mesh system configured in "Router" mode, then you might want to consider changing it to "Access Point" mode instead, so that the VR400 and the ASUS Mesh form one single IP network. That should solve the DLNA problem.

the only problem is I need the mesh in router mode as the tp link doesn't cover the house well enough with wifi

Hi,
Whether a Mesh system is operated in "Router" mode or "Access Point" mode shouldn't affect its Wi-Fi coverage.
The difference is that in "Router" mode it creates and manages its own local network, while in "Access Point" it expands a network that is managed by another router.
And regarding your question about "DLNA from outside the network". I believe DLNA was never designed to work outside of the local network to which the DLNA server is attached to.

thanks. I was thinking I would lose the wifi boost. Tried that and everything is now working again! Thanks. The only thing now is. Will the Ethernet ports work on the mesh nodes?

You will have to test the Ethernet ports yourself. I am not familar with ASUS Mesh systems, but I see no reason why it shouldn't work.
I most cases, when a router or Mesh system is set to dedicated "Access Point" mode, then all Ethernet ports will be configured as "LAN" ports by the firmware.
