We have 9 Decos spread out over 5 floors in an old house. I understand that the units will channel hop to give the best performance (is that correct?) but do all the units change together or is the system smart enough to change individual Decos depending on what interference is coming in from neighbours on different floors?
Also, is the system optimization just working on the back channels for overall efficiency?

Yes, Deco will automatically switch channels to give the best performance. All Deco units change together.
After running "Network Optimization", Deco will restart its wireless module and re-analyze the current wireless interference to see whether it needs to switch to another channel.
