With app's intuitive access control features, offers powerful access control features that give you precise control over who and what devices can connect to your network. Let's explore these modes and how they can benefit you.

Block List Mode

Imagine being able to keep unwanted devices or users away from your Wi-Fi network. With the Block List Mode, you can do exactly that.
Simply add a client to the blocklist, either by directly selecting it or entering the MAC address of the device you want to block. Once a device is on the blocklist, it won't be able to connect to your Deco Wi-Fi, ensuring your network remains secure and free from any unwanted access.

Allow List Mode

For those who prefer a more exclusive approach to network access, the Allow List Mode is ideal.
In this mode, you create a list of approved devices that are allowed to connect to your Wi-Fi. This means that only the devices you specifically authorize will have access, providing an extra layer of security. And if you have guests over, don't worry – with the Guest Network Exception feature, your guests can still connect to a separate guest network without being affected by the Allowlist restrictions.

Guest Network Exception

Hosting a party or having friends over? The Guest Network Exception feature within the Allowlist Mode ensures that your guests can seamlessly connect to a designated guest network. This keeps your main network secure while still providing internet access to your visitors.

New Device Notification

The New Device Notification feature alerts you whenever a new device attempts to connect. You can then choose to allow or deny access, keeping your network tightly controlled and secure.

In conclusion, the Deco app's Access Control features offer a comprehensive solution for managing your Wi-Fi network. Whether you want to block specific devices, create an exclusive allowlist, or provide guest access while maintaining security, the Deco app has you covered. With these powerful tools at your fingertips, you can rest assured that your network remains safe and under your control.

We recommend turning off random MAC addresses to prevent devices in the whitelist from being unable to join the network due to MAC changes.

* Features available in Deco may vary by model and software version. Deco availability may also vary by region or ISP.

** Some products may not currently support this feature, we are updating the firmware to all models.

@David-TP When you introduce some acess control feature that is based on MAC address, how dare you don't explain the Radom MAC mechanism? It's definitely not enough just saying "We recommend turning off random MAC addresses to prevent devices in the whitelist from being unable to join the network due to MAC changes". Because it says nothing. People knows what Random MAC is don't need you to say that, while for people don't know Random MAC, your words is nothing to them. You TP-LINK really need to think seriously how to write human readable articles.

And talking about the feature design, since we all know about the problem of Radom MAC, as a vendor, I believe you have the responsibility to think how to solve it. I just to give you some clues:

1. all the Radom MAC starts from specifl OUI, so it's not hard for your to mark which devices is with Random MAC, so you give users some hint when they do the configuration.

2. To Aviod the problem of Random MAC, when user configure the blacklist, you can add an option for user to enable "block all the devices with Random MAC" to avoid someone try to bypass the Access Control.
