It's a flipping joke, sounds like they have school kids on the job.

Things like that shouldnt even better allowed to slip the net.

Does anyone have a good alternative option?

I did think of flashing these with ooenwrt but it's just not quite there to even trial. I want a robust system now.

1.2.1_build_20240925_Beta firmware still doesn't work well with deco app on P9 devices.

Most annoying bugs in Deco P9 firmware:

1. 1.2.1_build_20240925_Beta - firmware has open telnet service without password. Anyone in you net can connect to your Deco P9 using telnet without password.

2. Deco app is unusable. All Deco P9 are offline. You can't add new Deco p9 to an existing network with this firmware. But wi-fi network works. 

3. Smart DHCP feature can't be disabled entirely. Periodically main Deco P9 starts acting as DHCP server. For example if my main internet router (not tp-link) has been rebooted some, devices in the lan may get DHCP lease from Deco P9 which is in AP mode and must not provides IPs to devices.

4. PLC connections are not always stable. Sometimes PLC stops working without any changes to the setup. You can't control PLC connections at all.

5. No diagnostic or any kind of advanced settings in the app or web interface of Deco P9.

6. Wi-fi network become completely unstable if you connect more than 6 (six) Deco P9 access points to one mesh network.It doesn't matter if you connect >6 APs with Ethernet or PLC. After connecting 7th Deco P9 unit to the mesh network, random units became periodically disconnected.

I had the same problem. Beta firmware worked for a few days, then some of the Decos started having VERY slow download/upload (under 1 Mbps) with lots of device disconnects. I work from home, so a stable network is critical. I had to buy new mesh network.

I put all my 4 P9s v2 back to 1.2.1 Build 20240716 Ref 60900 and I had no issues with the app saying that they were off line and everything was bliss compared to the previous issues mentioned.

Then yesterday, my WiFi has been all over the place and my laptop just dropping off the network/apps/RDP freezing on the page and the Android app saying this when I went to see what the issue was.

"Unable to connect to Deco Make sure that the main deco works well. reconnect. alternatively restart the main deco until the LED turns solid green"

Has anyone else had this happen now on this version ?

Can anyone confirm if TPLink are actually looking at this issue to fix ?

I dont want to trial a fix (I did that and it didnt work) as I cant afford for my network to go down but I also cant have this issue that I have currently.

Does anyone have any ideas ?

This works great. Had to update the two S4 satellites by IP address, because knocking off the Tapo smart devices had no effect in restoring online status. I have 36 Tapo smart devices connected to the Deco S4 mesh.

Is your P9 network still working ?

I tried to reset my whole P9 network and now seem to be in a worse position as devices wont reconnect as DHCP is not coming through and they cant get an IP address if they are connecting to my slave satelite access points.

What I have leaned

All Satelite P9 v2 devices use power passthrough OK but WiFi is broken as my sons PC works 90% of the time but even that has started to flash red recently more.

As WiFi is broken, devices are not getting DHCP and devices used to work as they had an IP already but on my new network, this was not the case and items like Tado, cant connect unless they are plugged directly to the router.

All slave satelite P9 devices connected all great for about less than 5 minutes when I recreated my network and then went offline.

I will try and upgrade all to beta like you did 1 by 1 on a new network, if this works but reading your posts further on. I dont think it did and you maybe back on an older Firmware

  @David-TP Hi David, I promised you that I would come back and report my progress with the latest firmware for my 4 Deco X50-POE(1.0) running firmware v1.2.5 Build 20241031 Rel. 30509.

Ironically, I came here to report that with the firmware you have uploaded, my Decos and the issue I originally reported had no longer been present. However, this morning, I checked the app and 3 out of 4 Decos were reporting offline. Logging into the Web UI, they appeared as online. I refreshed the app a couple times and the Decos showed up as online.

I will say that since I upgraded to the firmware you provided, I have not had any issues. So this morning's issue I would like to say was an anomly. Because again, I have had zero issues since upgrading.

If you need any assistance with logs, etc. please let me know.

  @David-TP This particular problem has cost me several hours/days to resolve (on my own, because Support didn't pick up on this being the issue).  I'm glad I eventually found this article - it helped a little, but it still wasn't perfect for me.  Deco's would drop offline after a few hours/days instead of always being offline.

It's ironic that this bug affects networks with a lot of tp-link devices.  It's a bug introduced by tp-link, and it's affecting customers with a lot of your products.  I've had many problems over the years, but this one is the worst, and the final straw.

I've now bought whole new WiFi mesh system from a different brand (at great expense) to replace my Deco network.  I had the replacement setup within minutes and it's been amazing so far.

My advice is for tp-link to get this sorted ASAP before you lose any more customers.
