Model: Deco M4   Archer AX23
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hi,

I plan to buy 3 Deco M4 Access Points. My current home network is a complete mess and the routers don't want to work with each other. I have ethernet cables routed from the (future) Deco location to the main router (Archer AX23).

  • Is Archer AX23 compatible with Wi-Fi mesh on the Deco M4?
  • Can I plug all 3 Decos into my main router directly?
  • Can I plug e.g. a TV into the other spare port on the Deco?

The internet speed provided by my ISP is 200 Mbps, so I don't think that I need to buy better devices.

Thanks a lot.

Archer AX23 is not compatible with Deco mesh. You can turn off its WiFi and use it as wired router together with Deco mesh, or research EasyMesh compatible gear from TP-Link that will work with AX23.

If staying with Deco mesh:

You can plug all three Deco to AX23 directly, but they must run in Access Point mode. You can do the switch after you configured first Deco from the set, then the rest will pick on that setting when added to Deco mesh. See Switching a Deco to Access Point (AP) Mode

You can plug TV to spare port of Deco unit.

Deco M4 will work just fine with internet speeds up to 500Mbps.
