TP Link extender
Bought a range extender and apart from the mobile that it’s tether to during initial set up it won’t connect to anything else in the house. Double and triple checked password and it is correct. What is the mater with this range extender?

Ok. So the main router's network also doesn't work properly while the RE450 is connected to it?
Perhaps try to setup the RE450 again from the beginning.
First reset the RE450 to factory default settings (press and hold its small "Reset" button for about 8 seconds).
Then perform the setup procedure as per the Guide provided by TP-Link.
In case your main wireless router has a "WPS" button, then you can also use this method instead of the Tether app. First press the WPS button on the router and then (within two minutes) press the WPS button (the huge button on the front, hold it down for about 1 second) of the RE450. Using this method would pretty much rule out any setup mistake a user could make.

Hi,
As TP-Link currently offers approximately 30 different models of range extenders it would be helpful if you let us know which exact model (and also the hardware version, e.g. "Ver: 1.0, 2.0, etc.) you have problems with.
Anyway, so the range extender shows you a list of nearby Wi-Fi networks, you select the one you want it to connect to and enter the correct password. What happens then? Does it show an error message?

Ok.
So, originally the RE450 showed up under wireless networks as "TP-Link_Extender". You connected a mobile device to "TP-Link_Extender" and used the Tether app to setup the RE450.
After you went through the setup the network "TP-Link_Extender" disappeared and new wireless networks with the names "[name of main network]_EXT" show up when you search for wireless networks on your Smart TV, Fire Stick or PC.
Now, when you select one of the "_EXT" networks and enter the same password as the one you use for the corresponding main wireless network you are informed that the password is wrong.
Is that what has happened?
Can you please log into the router of the main wireless network and check whether the range extender actually shows up in the client list of that router?
