Model: Deco P9
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hi everyone,

I've renovated part of my home and I've added some cat 6 cables in three rooms. These are the rooms where my decos are (currently connected via power line). Now, I'd like to connect all of them via ethernet to improve the speed, how should I make the setup?

Do I need to connect the modem to the first deco, a switch to the first deco and then the ethernet of the last 2 decos to the switch? Would they recognise the ethernet and select that as source of network?

I can connect the first deco to one of the others but what about the third?

Regards,

Ade

  @Adex1

If you can connect the third Deco to the second with Ethernet cable, you will not need the switch:

If you can't do that, you will need the switch:

Not every switch is compatible with Deco Ethernet backhaul. If you need switch, choose TP-Link brand, simple (unmanaged) gigabit 5-port switch.

If you connect Deco to each other they will recognize the Ethernet and use it, because Ethernet takes priority. With switch, Satellite Deco will use Ethernet if switch is compatible, if it is not- they will stay connected over powerline and/or WiFi.

Hi  @Alexandre.

thank you very much for your reply! Will this do?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-LS1005G-Wallmount-Ethernet-Splitter/dp/B07V5QDJP3/

Do I get this right that any setting I set in my deco app will then affect anything I connect to the switch?

Will I miss any feature?

This switch should be OK. You will not need to make any changes in Deco app. No features will be lost.

If Satellite P9 is wired to and can use the switch, you'll see the following in Deco app for that Satellite Deco:
