Deco X20 as router for optical fiber network

Deco X20 as router for optical fiber network

Deco X20 as router for optical fiber network
Saturday - last edited Yesterday

I have had 5G network, with related router and connected mesh network build with 3xTP Link Deco M9+ devices. Mesh has been on router mode.

I newly purchased optical fiber contract and now I need change and move current network accordingly in to the new optical fiber network.

I just learned I cannot use TP Link Archer routers just because it is not compatible with Deco Mesh network. It would work only by connecting router by CAT wire to Deco mesh.

I concidered to select Deco X20 router.

How would it be possible to add that X20 in to the existing Mesh network so that it would be router and part of the existing Mesh network and to be Main mesh box?Current 5G network will decommisioned.

Target is that I’d not need reassign all devices assigned in to the existing Mesh network.

Hi, welcome to the community.

You could refer to this link to replace the main Deco M9 plus with Deco X20 and it would keep the previous Mesh network settings:

How to replace the main Deco with another Deco

Case 2. Setting up the new Deco to be the Main Deco

Thank you very much and best regards.

Hi David,

Thank you for your reply.

I do understand that main Deco change.

I'm not sure how the old router can be changed.

Target is to decommision old G5 adsl/modem and to replase old G5 modem&network by X20 & optical fiber network.

X20 will not be connected to old router, but X20 will replace old router to work with new network (optical fiber).

Best regards,
