3 Storey Brick & Concrete home. Is this setup OK?
Hi All, Just looking for approval .... aren't we all? ;)
I'm moving into a townhouse that is 3 storey and of brick and concrete construction (including internal walls). The cable/internet comes into the townhouse at ground level through the garage. Over ethernet it is connected to multipoint data plate on the 1st floor. Here I was going to the Archer AXE75. Given all the concrete there is a wired ethernet points at either end of the floor where I'd connect RBE815XE range extenders. Upstairs again there's two more data points and again I'd connect RBE815XE to each.
Does this all sound OK? Overkill or underkill? I'm not a gamer but stream plenty as does my wife and kids. S
Many Thanks,
David

All my AP's are connected via ethernet,
My house had about 1 point of networking in my house and that was the point the Internet come in.
I've gone a bit full hog in my house as I was fed up with terrible wifi and my kids moaning at me to fix the wifi like I'm a highly decorated networking engineer 😂😂,
I ended up spending a few weeks on YouTube and just went for it.
Ive ended up installing 2x24 port gb switches the 3 ax72s plus in every room 4 port ethernet ports and my living room ive got 6ports as I wanted everything that could be hard wired hard wired and ive never heard any issues again besides the time I tried easymesh for a few months and the rare occasion bt plays up( I have a post about my experience with it hence why I now have mine running back in 1x main and 2x AP).
I was recently looking at the AXE75 routers as was toying with the idea of upgrading to 6E but although these AX72 routers are only wifi6 they have been rock solid besides the easymesh issue and I'm able to get my full speeds from my isp via wifi and lan (945/110) from every inch inside of my property and i have the wifi transmission turned down to medium and im toying with turning them down to low as the signals are still strong.
I don't know if it's really worth me upgrading just yet 🤔
I probably will do soon as the itch will be too big for me to ignore 😂😂
I'm just trying to get the governors approval to finally mount my network rack so everything is put away neatly and as central as I can get it.
Just had a look online (amazon) at the mo are selling the repeater for £120 and the router for £115, I think from my personal thought that you get the extra ethernet ports and I plus the usb port bit does the same job as the repeater for £5 less.
OK it is bigger than the repeater but your options have been opened more if you ever do decide you want to hard wire something like games consoles or tvs later down the line.
Typical as for this time of year I don't have the spare 300+ for 3 of the routers otherwise I'd prob have jumped at that price as they are what I prefer personally myself.
Hopefully someone else can jump on and give a different perspective using the other equipment the way you was asking as they'd be able to give more feedback to help you make the decision easier

Hi I'm also what is described as a town house,
3 stories brick and solid internal walls, also my Internet connection comes in on ground floor.
I've done something similar to what your proposing but I used 3 routers instead (All AX72V.01). 1x main and 2 as AP.
1 main on my ground floor 1 on my top floor and my 3rd out in the bottom of my garden all connected via ethernet.
Literally my whole house and garden and some are blanketed in wifi (probably to my neighbours annoyance lol) all able to get full signal and speeds.
I would IMO advise personally from my experience if you need/want the few extra ethernet ports to add a extra router and have it as a AP as you can then have the spare 4 ethernet ports plus wifi coverage aswell.
I cant say which would give you a better signal coverage as everyone's houses are different but being as the range extender looks smaller than a proposed router in antenna aspect plus you get more antenna on the router i would like to say the router would be the better option but it's all down to a personal cost/function/aesthetics factors.

Thanks for your reply.
My thoughts on using the RBE815XE is that they're tri-band like the AXE75 and are both spec'd at 5400mbps.
I'm hoping that 1 router/modem and 4 wired range extenders should create saturated coverage.
I bought all this during the recent Black Friday sales herebut it's still load more than I've ever spent on something like this ;)
Are your AP's wireless or on an ethernet?
Thanks again

The Black Friday sales just finished here yesterday (Australia). I was able to get the Archer AXE75 for AUD257(GBP130) and the RBE815XE for AUD166(GBP85) each.
These seem to be pretty decent prices, approx 20-30% cheaper than the normal price here.
