Double trouble ? X50-5G

Double trouble ? X50-5G
Double trouble ? X50-5G

Model: Deco X50-5G
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Firstly the "model" field on a New Thread doesn't work on a iPhone latest iOS, no keyboard launches just a cursor flashing away.

I've bought two X50-5G models currently en route, but now I've considered will these actually work together (with two different mobile networks) or will I need another router ?

I just assumed I could run two together given there is no ADSL option on this model, nor a dual sim option.

Upgrading from a Archer MR200/Netgear M2100.

Hi David,

Like many in UK options are limited due to British Telecom Openreach, the line has been faulty for 20 years but they won't fix it & I'm in a city, I've been using 3G then 4G since mid 2000's.

However I need a back up incase the 4/5G network goes down and the secondary kicks in, so I'm guessing without a external router I can't use two X50-5G in this manner?.

Quite limiting given there isn't a dual sim 5G TPlink option on the market and 4G backup is restricted to Class 6 LTE when 4G is so oversaturated especially since 2/3G are shut down ans all calls/data are being VoLTE router en mass these days.

Well obviously TPL management don't realky understand mobile networks other than minimum 4G and a 5G will "do fine" severely limiting future compatibility & non compatible with each other in the basic OS engineering knowing dual sim aren't available so this should be a option for two TPL devices, esp at least 5G products.

  @Seani

Hi, welcome to the community.

Firstly the "model" field on a New Thread doesn't work on a iPhone latest iOS, no keyboard launches just a cursor flashing away.

-It has been reported to the senior engineers for improvement. Thank you in advance.

For other inquiries, I don't think you need two Deco X50-5G units. If you want an extra Deco Mesh units, Deco X50(non-5G verion) would be a good choice.

For Deco X50_V1_1.6.1 which supports Internet Backup mode, with an extra Deco X50-5G_1.2.0 working as a satellite Mesh unit, you are able to achieve Hybrid Mesh network, such as the following configuration guide-Deco Internet Backup Feature Guide

Thank you very much and best regards
