AX5400 - Archer AX73 Ver 2.0 Randomly Restarts - HomePod and apple tv
I recently purchased an Archer AX73 (AX5400) router. (Archer AX73 Ver 2.0 - 1.1.0 Build 20240323 rel.70541(5553)) Everything seemed fine initially. I was connecting regular wireless devices such as iPads, iPhones, laptops, etc. However, when I connected a Linksys SE3005 switch with several devices (Apple TV, TV, Xbox Series X), the router started rebooting every 2 minutes.
To troubleshoot, I disconnected the switch, and it appeared that the rebooting stopped. However, after another 10 minutes, the problem returned—the router continues to reboot every 2 minutes.
How can I identify what the error is? I was expecting not to have any problems, but this is happening every 2 minutes.
UPDATE: it appears that this is an Apple TV and HomePod related problem: https://www.reddit.com/r/TpLink/s/KfJKhThpyh I also got those devices and it appears that everything was just a coincidence.
UPDATE 2: Just to mention that factory resetting the HomePods solve the problem. Maybe because they are not updated.
UPDATE 3: Resetting and changing settings ofdma/mu-mimo did not solve anything

Hi all,
I’m experiencing the exact same issue. The only workaround I’ve found is to unplug the HomePod while the router restarts. Once the router stabilizes—specifically when the 5GHz band becomes active and usable—I can plug the HomePod back in. It then connects and works fine, as long as the router doesn’t reboot.
However, if the router reboots for any reason (e.g., auto-reboots or firmware updates), it falls back into an endless reboot cycle.
For context, my Apple TV is connected via a LAN cable, and the HomePod consistently selects the 5GHz band when I check the band selection for connected devices. In my lay opinion, I wonder if the HomePod interferes with the router while it’s trying to determine which channels to use, particularly on the 5GHz band, and that these interferences or requests may cause the router to reboot.
I’ve tried various router settings, but none have resolved the issue. Any suggestions or fixes would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Onijoe,
Please check the information below:
1. If the problem persists, please check if disabling the flow control settings will make things different, see attached.
2. Would it be different if you change the router to access point/router mode, referring to How to configure the TP-Link wireless router as Access Point?
3. And please check if fixing the negotiation speed of router LAN port on the web interface will be hepful or not.

Hi @Joseph-TP
Thank you for the feedback, I don't seem to have flow controller on my router, not under Internet or LAN. My firmware details below which says it is the latest version.
Firmware Version:
1.1.0 Build 20240323 rel.70541(4555)
Hardware Version:
Archer AX73 v2.0
I did not try access point mode as I need to use it as an internet router, it connects direct to a fibre line.

Hello!
I have the exact same problem and i even got a replacement AX73 from the retailer before i realized that it was the Stereopairing of the HomePods that caused all the reboots.
I have quite a lot of hours going in to this problem so i hope there will be a solution for this soon, thank you :)

On reddit it appears that someone received a "Beta". Is there any new firmware update to check?
