Model: Archer VR300
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.6.0 0.8.0 v00a2.0 Build 240913 Rel.41017n

Hi all,

I recently recieved a firmware upgrade for my vr300 from like a week or two ago, I updated the firmware automatically via my wireless connection on laptop.

and since then I find unstable bandwidth speed with lag or slow performance in accessing the router gateway,

the DSL connection itself is stable and the ISP told me that the ground line speed is what it should to be and more actually, the router reads that the line has 40MB/s connection,

this problem happen many times through the day, I tested the bandwidth via many devices and it gives the same low performance.

while everytime it happen I open the gateway and find it slow performing with no obvious reason but I find the line speed itself stays stable at 40MB/s.

I need to know if the problem with that new firmware or if it with the modem router itself so I can return it to the warranty services.

Best way to know if that's because of the FW or the modem, is to downgrade (upgrade with an older version) the FW to the previous FW release and test.

Okay I will try this after testing a direct cable, Is there any way to make sure that the modem router device has no physical or hardware stability issues ? because the device's wireless signal power isn't stable as well like it can reduce from very good to fair in the same place at different times. I mean I need a way to test and measure the modem's signal stability.

Start with FW to exclude any FW issue with your bandwidth,

There's no special tool for testing HW stability of your modem router but here are some practical guidelines:

1.Unstable wireless connection on TP-Link router

2.How to place your wireless router for optimal reception and performance

To measure a wireless signal strength you may try using tools like inSSIDer or WiFi Analyzer.
