Model: Deco X50
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.6.1 Build 20241010 Rel. 65389

I recently changed ISP to London Community Fibre with download and upload of 1 Gbps. I had an existing m5 mesh system working absolutley fine, but with the new ISP i thought I should upgrade my main deco to something that supported WiFi6 and and have faster download and upload so I bought a single X50. After making the X50 the router and main deco I've actually noticed that I'm having a worse performance than when I had the m5 as my main deco. I've tried turning 2ghz off, optimised, run diagnostics and restarted etc and it doesn't seem to make a difference. I'm just wondering if this is a known issue with X50?

For context with the m5 I was getting a download of 485 Mbps with upload 540 Mbps. I put the X50 in the exact same place as the m5 was and sat next to it and the best performance I've measured has been download of 387 Mbps and 399 Mbps.

Side note: I really can't get my head around why they removed the speed test from within the app and the the Deco lab, such a useful feature and yes I know it was telling me the speed from ISP to the main deco not to device.

Hi, Thank you very much for the feedback.

Have you tested the Ethernet connection speed from the main Deco X50?

Can I have the model numbers of the mobile devices that are used for the speedtest?

-Please also refer to this link to check the current wireless link speed on these devices- How to check the associated/link speed on a wireless client.

- And make sure the QOS has been disabled or set to 1000Mbps-download/upload.

Wait for your reply and best regards.

@David-TP  Hi David thank you for the reply.

I have not tested with an Ethernet connection speed as surprisingly I don't actually own a device I can hardwire and run a speed test on *waves fist at these modern laptops with no ethernet ports*

The mobile device I was using for the speed test was an iPhone 12 Pro Model number MGMX3B/A

When I check the wireless transfer speed (following the link suggested) the tx rate can go from 720Mbps to 916Mbps which I guess indicates the router is cable of higher transfer speeds.

QOS has always been disabled. I can achieve higher speed on other devices now that I've done a more thorough test, but I'm just puzzled that my main mobile device was getting a higher download and upload sat next to the router with the m5 deco compared to what it gets now with the x50.
