  @honzik

Sounds frustrating! Since the same OpenVPN config works on your AX3000, it might be a firmware issue or a setting on the VX1800v. Try:

  1. Ensuring VPN passthrough is enabled.

  2. Checking firewall settings.

  3. Testing with a different OpenVPN port/protocol.

  4. Rolling back or updating firmware.

If none work, TP-Link support might be the best bet. Hope you get it sorted!

Hi @Marvin_S  and TP-Link Support Team,

I have been experiencing same OpenVPN client issues where the status is getting stuck on 'Connecting' for my VX1800v router despite following all troubleshooting steps from the official TP-Link guides at https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/3135/ and https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/270268.

Device Information:
Model: Archer VX1800v v1.0
Current Firmware: 0.12.0 2.0.0 v6092.0 Build 240903 Rel.42300n (Latest for Turkey region - Archer VX1800v(EU)_V1_240329 released 2024-07-16)
Hardware Version: Archer VX1800v v1.0 00000000
Serial Number: 223952100421
Region: Turkey

Network Topology:
ISP VDSL line directly connected to router distributing internet to wireless and wired devices. No intermediate devices, switches, or additional routers in the chain.

VPN Server Details:
Provider: Privado VPN
VPN Type: OpenVPN
Configuration: Unified .ovpn file format with embedded certificates
File Size: Single file; under 2.5KB (under 20KB limit)

Troubleshooting steps tried:

Step 1 - Configuration File Verification:
Obtained proper unified .ovpn configuration file from Privado VPN with correct service credentials.

Step 2 - Third-Party Client Testing:
Successfully tested same configuration file with OpenVPN Connect on multiple devices including PC and smartphone. Connection works on all devices except the VX1800v router.

Step 3 - Firmware Updates:
Confirmed running latest firmware for Turkey region. Updated from Build 240903 to ensure no firmware-related issues.

Step 4 - Protocol Testing:
Tested both UDP (port 1194) and TCP (port 443) protocols
Tried multiple server endpoints; London, Amsterdam etc

Additional Troubleshooting Performed:
VPN Passthrough verified enabled (PPTP, L2TP, IPSec all active)
Firewall settings checked and verified to be correct
Time synchronization verified
Router accessed via LAN interface (not WAN) during configuration

Current Status:
OpenVPN Client shows "Connecting" loop indefinitely
Regular internet connectivity through router works normally

Please advise on next steps, thanks
