Huawei E182E unstable connections

Hi,
I am trying to use a Huawei E182E with the MR3020 router. After power cycling the router and waiting for it to complete the boot it recognizes the 3G stick. However after the first idle timeout or manual disconnect the router fails to reconnect and sometimes stops recognizing the stick. Any ideas?
