Persistent Wi-Fi Speed Drop to 100 Mbps on TP-Link BE550 v1 Router
Persistent Wi-Fi Speed Drop to 100 Mbps on TP-Link BE550 v1 Router

Dear TP-Link Support Team,
I am experiencing a recurring issue with my TP-Link BE550 v1 router, and I would like to bring it to your attention for further investigation and assistance.
Issue Description:
After a few days of normal operation, the wireless internet speed on my router drops to 100 Mbps, even though my internet connection is capable of 1 Gbps. This issue persists until I reset the router to factory settings and reconfigure it from scratch. Simply changing Wi-Fi settings, such as adjusting the Wi-Fi channel or other configurations, does not resolve the problem.
Current Setup:
- Router Model: TP-Link BE550 v1
- Firmware Version: 1.1.1 Build 20241230 rel.20267(4555)
- Active Networks: 5 GHz, 6 GHz, and MLO networks are all enabled and in use.
Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
1. Wi-Fi Settings Adjustment: I have tried changing the Wi-Fi channels and other related settings, but the issue remains unresolved.
2. Router Reset: The only temporary solution I have found is to reset the router to factory settings and reconfigure it, which restores the speed to 1 Gbps. However, the problem reoccurs after a few days.
Request for Assistance:
I kindly request your support in diagnosing and resolving this issue. It is quite frustrating to have to reset the router every few days to maintain the expected internet speed. Please let me know if there are any firmware updates, configuration changes, or other steps I can take to address this problem.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response and any potential solutions you may offer.
LIVE UPDATE:
After updating 2025 beta software, my all WiFi devices (Windows PC, iPhone, Android tablet, Apple TV; TCL TV etc) drops wireless speed 1 Gbps to 100-200 Mbps. Otherwise, I use Intel BE200 WiFi 7 card (MLO enabled).

May I know what is the hardware and firmware version of your router? Please refer to How to find the hardware and firmware version of my TP-Link device
If its hardware is version 1.0, please update firmware to Archer BE550(EU)_V1_1.1.2 Build 20250317, this firmware should resolve the issue.

Hi@TheVoodoo,
May I know if your network topology diagram is as follows:

(Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection )
What is the firmware version of your router now?
- Please use https://www.speedtest.net or the speedtest APP/CLI(https://www.speedtest.net/apps) for testing speed accurately. You can also try a few other speedtest servers, other servers might reach better speeds.
- Please make sure the speed of your ISP/Modem is good by connecting a PC directly into the ISP Modem/Router.
- Please try different Ethernet cables (CAT5E or above) on the Router.
- Disable QoS, please access http://tplinkwifi.net and go to Advanced >> QoS to disable it.
- Disable Parental Control, please go to Advanced >> Parental Control to disable it.
- If wireless speed is slower than expected, please go to Advanced >> Wireless Settings to change the 5GHz Wi-Fi channel, you may try different channels to find the best one for your environment.
- Disable SIP ALG and UPNP, please go to Advanced >> NAT Forwarding >> UPNP to disable UPNP, go to Advance >> Security to disable SIP ALG.
