Will a newer Deco-router play nicely with the old ones?

So I'm running 4 Deco M4's currently, but they're starting to show their age a bit. I feel like the main unit is the problem, as my living room where it sits has a lot of devices connecting to it and that's mainly where I would benefit from WiFi 6 and 7.
So now I'm wondering, would everything work nicely if just bought one BE25 (or BE65 or BE85) for example and replaced only the main Deco with that? Or will the new one basically fall back to whatever standards the old ones support? Of course I'm not expecting the old satelite Deco's to get faster or anything, but if the new main Deco falls back to the standards that the M4's support, there's no point in upgrading just the one. And if I have to change them all, then I might as well change brands as well. (though I have to say the BE25 does look pretty attractive in terms of price)

Hi, thanks for posting question here.
Usually, the performance of main Deco can be better if you change it from Deco M4 into a wifi7 Deco. But it is hard to say that all the effects of wifi7 Deco can be realized.
This guide is for your reference: Can different Deco models work together?
Best regards.

@Marvin_S thanks, I didn't find that page before. It doesn't say anything about what I was "worried" about though, so I'm guessing it's not an issue. As in it won't drop down to WiFi 5 / AC to conform with the M4's if I add a new WiFi 7 capable main Deco (but obviously only devices connected to the new device will be able to utilize the new WiFi standards). I don't care about the security and backhaul stuff that's mentioned on that page.

I just ordered a BE25, which I'll be replacing my main Deco (M4) with when it arrives. Then I guess I'll move the old M4 into my stepson's room which should improve coverage there and in the kitchen. So then I'll have a total of 5 Decos, 4 in the house and one connected via ethernet in the garage.
I'll keep you posted about how it works out :)

My Deco BE-25 arrived on Saturday. I decided not to use the "replace main Deco" feature because it wanted me to reconfigure the whole network again, so instead I just added it, which worked as expected, and then set is as main Deco. The second part didn't work very well - it took a whole bunch of reboots and reloading/refreshing before the main Deco changed. But once the setting finally stuck, everything worked nicely. Now everything is great, even the Deco app looks brand new and runs a lot faster. Seems like my Home-Assistant gets device-tracker entries faster too (with the M4's it would timeout after waiting 30 seconds half the time).
Now I just need to figure out where exactly to put the spare M4 -> I put it in my stepson's room, but now the signal is a bit weak because our chimney is between it and the main Deco. I might have to draw a new map and try to make the Deco's kind of circle around the chimney.
