Model: Deco X55
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.6.1

I want to share my extremely negative experience with the TP-Link Deco X55 mesh system.

I purchased this system expecting stability and solid performance, but from day one it has been a constant source of frustration for me and my family.

Main issues:

Frequent automatic reboots (5 to 6 times per day – now it restarts every time that a new device connects, or if i have more than 20 devices).

Total loss of network connectivity across the house each time this happens.

Devices drop off the mesh network, even when physically close to the Deco units.

Internal system logs show critical errors such as:

sh: on: unknown operand

uci: Entry not found

Missing essential files (mesh_dev_list)

I’ve tried everything: firmware updates, factory resets, cable replacements, repositioning units, disabling advanced features – nothing works.

Bottom line:

The Deco X55 is not reliable and falls way short of its promises. I strongly do not recommend this system to anyone looking for a stable home or office network. A Wi-Fi system that randomly reboots several times a day is completely unacceptable in 2025.

Avoid this product if you value stability.

Hi All, a new 1.8.0 firmware is ready for Deco X50/X55_V1.

It is suggested to update to 1.8.0 for better performance.

Deco X50_V1_1.8.0 Significantly Expanded the Client Connection Details and Added Channel Selection

Best regards.

  @FKarpint

Hi, welcome to the community.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience, and if you'd like to spend a little more time, I'll escalate your case to the senior engineers for further assistance. I'm sure they can help us find a proper workaround

Meanwhile, would there be many smart home devices that are connected to the Deco Mesh? Can I have their model numbers?

Recently, there was some feedback that using the deco app might cause the deco to disconnect and restart. Have you ever noticed that the disconnection/restart of your Deco also coincided with running the Deco APP, for example "If I open the Deco app to view the client list, notice it has gone stale, attempt to refresh the list multiple times, this will eventually cause the main deco to reboot thereby disconnecting all devices"?

Please also check your current Deco APP version and make sure it is up to date: 3.9.12 for IOS and 3.9.23 for Android.

After that, please also refer to this link to help me submit the Deco APP log: How to submit Deco APP log

Thank you very much for your cooperation and support.

Wait for your reply.

@FKarpint  I have had my sytem comprising of 6 deco X55 units for just inder a year and couldn't be happier. I chose these units after leaving BT complete WiFi and not wanting to pay monthly payments for boosters with EE. The system has hardley missed a beat. I work from home every day of the week jumping in and out of Tesms meeting with any problems. I have the system setbto reboot every Sunday in the early hours (it is a dmall computer at the end ofvthe day). I game alot online without issue. There has been 1 or 2 occasions where there has been some form if connectivity issue but nithing is perfect. I feel to say donly buybof you want a stable connection is a little harsh particularly for the cost of units.

Got my deco x55 AX3000 three unit mesh delivered today. Was fairly easy to set up and send to be working fine. It automatically updated to the latest firmware and so far so good. Quite happy with the experience really.

@FKarpint I can also vouch for this post, X55 is a terrible product. My network constantly drops out and is extremely slow when using Wi-Fi.

I notice my CPU usage on the main device is at around 96-100%.

I've tried everything but I feel I may need to change to a different model or brand for an improvement.

AVOID!
