Model: Deco BE65
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.1.6 Build 20250220 Rel. 28737

I am unable to add my LG OLED TV (LG OLED 55LX1TPSA) to the LG ThinQ app while it is connected to my Deco mesh (BE65). I have previously added an LG refrigerator and an LG washer/dryer to the ThinQ app while both devices are connected to my Deco mesh.

I tried multiple different solutions suggested online:

  • checking whether I have a VPN enabled on my phone (none)
  • deleting and reinstalling the ThinQ app
  • turning off the Quick Start + feature on the TV and power cycling the TV
  • factory reseting and power cycling the TV
  • ensuring that the TV is connected only to the 2.4 GHz network instead of the 5 GHz network
  • ensuring that both the TV and my phone are connected to the 2.4 GHz network and connected to the same Deco

To determine whether the problem is with the TV or with the mesh, I dug up an old Linksys router (WRT 1900 AC), and attempted to add the TV to my ThinQ app while both the TV and my phone were connected to the Linksys router. It worked without any issues.

When I reconnected the TV to my Deco mesh, the TV then showed up as "Disconnected" in the LG ThinQ app. I then tried to connect the TV directly to one of my Deco APs via ethernet, and it shows as back online now. I have not been able to test whether I can add the TV to the ThinQ app when it is connected only via ethernet instead of via WiFi.

I'm not sure what the problem is, but it seems like it's an issue with the Deco. How can I get this fixed?

For reference, I am running the latest available version of the LG ThinQ app (5.0.41431) on an iPhone 13 running iOS 18.3.2.

It looks like this is a common issue that has been around for a while, unfortunately:

  @carlocab

Hi, welcome to the community.

As the old threads are from about 2 years ago, and there were discussions over Reddit/Google as well before(https://www.reddit.com/r/LGOLED/comments/v4n9zb/cant_connect_via_lg_thinq_app/), I don't think the issue was dedicated to Deco.

I noticed now that over the Ethernet connection to Deco, the TV is connected to the LG ThinQ app. Do you not want to connect the TV via an Ethernet cable to the nearest Deco BE65?

There are rare devices that support multiple connections, and I don't think LG TV supports both WiFi and Ethernet connection simultaneously. You can also check the "Online List" on the Deco APP to see whether the LG TV is connected to Deco only via an Ethernet connection now.

If you prefer a wireless connection, it is also recommended to disable "Fast Roaming" and "Beamforming" under Deco APP>More>Advanced.

Wait for your reply

Best regards.

It may not be specific to Deco, but given that I had no issues with a Linksys router, it seems unavoidable to conclude that there is something that the Deco is doing that prevents the LG TV from connecting to the ThinQ app correctly.

It is not practical to connect the TV to the nearest Deco BE65 via Ethernet in the Deco BE65's original location. I can run cable to it, but that will require doing it through some walls which will take a bit of work. I've now relocated that Deco BE65 to the same room as the TV so that I can connect the TV via Ethernet, but it is no longer in an ideal position for ensuring adequate wireless coverage in my house.

It is possible for the TV to connect via Ethernet and WiFi simultaneously. I have checked both the TV and the Deco app. However, when an Ethernet cable is connected, the TV will not attempt to connect to WiFi after a power cycle. Perhaps this is what you mean by the TV supporting both WiFi and Ethernet connection simultaneously. However, it is possible to then connect to the WiFi network manually while the Ethernet cable is connected.

Thank you for the suggestion. Is this the only way to allow the LG TV to connect to the ThinQ app via WiFi? It would be ideal to not have to disable these features, but I will give this a try.

Note that connecting the LG TV via WiFi only seems to only interfere with the ThinQ app connection. I am able to use other features requiring Internet access (e.g. Netflix, YouTube) normally via WiFi.
