Model: Archer BE230
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.4 Build 20250318 rel.31873(5553)

Got this Wifi 7 router connected to internet through WAN port.

Connect my computer to a LAN port.

Did a factory reset.   Get into setup page, go through the basic setup, admin password/region etc.

Setup wifi SSID/passwords.

Everything work as expected. There are three white LED showing: power on, Wifi 2.4GHz/5GHz on.

I can press the button at the back to turn on and off WIFI.

I have my computer connected through a LAN port, however, the 4th LED which is marked as LAN does not light up.  but my computer connect to the internet without any problem.

However, WIFI though set to ON, my phone does not see the SSID of my Wifi.

And if I scan the QR code of "Share network", my phone says "Unable to join XXX".

If I manually keyin the wifi name in my phone in Other network, it says "Could not find the network XXX"

I tried setup a guest Wifi, and my phone doesn't see it neither.

I have many tplink routers from the era of 740N... through Archer AC1200, AX1900, never seen this problem before.

This is the first BE router I have and encounter this weird situation.

Do you think I have a defective unit?  Or did I set it up something wrong?

Already upgrade to latest firmware and did a factory reset.

Hi@Anders337,

Thank you for contacting our community.

Please confirm that you have reset the router correctly:

Press and hold this button for about 10 seconds until the Power LED blinks to reset the router to its factory default settings.

Please Press and hold the Wi-Fi button for about 2 seconds to turn on or off the wireless function of your router.

If you can log in to the web management page of router, please check if the 'Hide SSID' buttons are clicked.

Visit http://tplinkwifi.net, and log in with your TP-Link ID or the password you set for the router.

Go to Wireless or Advanced > Wireless > Wireless Settings.

  @Anders337

Hi,

If you want to be sure it isn't because you set up something wrong, then perform another factory reset and after the router has booted up again check the LEDs and the Wi-Fi right away! I mean without logging in and adjusting any settings.

When you have the BE230's WAN port connected to your ISP device, then the fourth LED should turn on (either red or white) and if your computer is connected to one of the LAN ports the fifth LED should turn on (white).

Furthermore, do a Wi-Fi search on a wireless device (e.g. your smartphone) and you should see one or two (depending on how old your phone is) Wi-Fi networks with the names that are printed on the sticker on the underside of the BE230. (something like "TP-Link_XXXX" and "TP-Link_XXXX_5G")

If at this point (after performing the factory reset) the WAN and LAN LEDs are still off and your wireless device still can't detect any of the two SSIDs printed on the router's label, then there is likely something wrong with your particular Archer BE230.

Thanks for your tip. I did another factory reset, and without any custom setting, the default SSID doesn't show up neither. At the very first time after a factory reset, I guess I seen that both 2.4GHz/5GHz are both turned off, leaving only a 5GHz 160MHz turned on (or something similar) that's when I suspect it's a new standard my phone don't understand, and why I didn't see the SSID. Then I tried turned on 2.4GHz and setup my own SSID. I think the firmware is still buggy, as I unplugged the WAN cable, the red internet LED doesn't light up as I expect. I'll contact support and check for next steps. Thanks
