Model: TL-WPA4220
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 1.0.12 Build 230309 Rel.64136n (6985)

Hi,

I’ve been using TP-Link Powerline adapters for several years.

I previously had a TL-WPA4220 v4 that, after a few years of use, started having daily connection drops. When this happened, I could still have wifi connection but no internet or LAN access. Unplugging and plugging it back the device would fixed the issue. But eventually, it started emitting an electrical noise (possibly from a capacitor), and assumed both issues were related.

Also due to its age, I decided to get a new one, so at the start of this year, I replaced it with a TL-WPA4220 v5.  But unfortunately I’m seeing the exact same disconnection issue, almost since day one.

Only now i've come across several reports from other users describing similar issues with the v4, and seems downgrading the firmware helped resolve the problem.

Has anyone else encountered this with the v5? Is there a recommended fix, or.. something?

Thanks in advance.

Hi@RMestre,

Thank you for contacting our community.

For your issue, please try the following suggestions:

1.Check if Power Saving Mode is enabled. You can disable it using the tpPLC utility. Refer to this FAQ for detailed instructions: How to enable/disable power saving mode on powerline adapters
2. Move the powerline extender closer to the router and the powerline adapter. Placing them in the same room for testing.
3. Test the internet connection by connecting your client devices directly to the main router. This will help determine if the issue is specific to the powerline connection or if it's a problem with the router itself.
4. You can try using different Ethernet cables or ports for wired client devices to rule out any potential cable or port issues
.

Best Regards~
