@mrajje
I’ve been using the TP-Link Archer MR600 (Hardware Version V2) in a remote location with an external antenna setup, expecting stable performance from a well-known brand. Unfortunately, the device has proven unreliable, frequently hanging or freezing—typically once a week—and remaining unresponsive until manually rebooted. Given the remote nature of the installation and the presence of a UPS, regular manual reboots are not feasible.
This issue seems to be well-documented in various user forums, indicating that it's not an isolated case. It's disappointing that despite the prevalence of the problem, TP-Link has yet to release a firmware patch or provide an official fix. Ironically, I've found some lesser-known or "budget" brands to perform more reliably in similar scenarios.
I’m now looking for potential workarounds to improve the stability of the MR600. Specifically:
-
Is there OpenWRT or another custom firmware available for MR600 V2? I understand OpenWRT support may be limited or unofficial, but any guidance here would be appreciated.
-
Has anyone successfully used a watchdog script or hardware-based auto-reboot system that could detect network drops and restart the router remotely?
-
Any configuration tweaks or firmware rollback that may reduce system instability?
At this stage, reliability is my top priority—even basic connectivity must be maintained for extended periods without intervention.
Any advice or shared experiences from other users would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
