Model: TL-PA717 KIT
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hi everyone,

have recently swapped my old netgear slow speed powerline adapters for the above gigabit speed models. In all I have 6 wired devices, comprising 1 x Virgin Media Hub and TV connection as the master, 2 x NOW Streaming TV, 1 x second virgin media TV box and 1 x gaming desktop PC and 1 x laptop. All powerline adapters show 3 green lights. However I cannot get wired connectivity to the desktop, laptop of second virgin media TV box. They are all configured for DHCP, but the devices are not recognising connectivity. The laptop and gaming PC I've tried network diagnostics and the ethernet ports show as "unidentified network" rather than the SSID name

I'm sure this has happened to other users and wonder if some of you knowledgeable folks out there can help me remedy this situation.

Your help and advice appreciated.

rgds

Tony

Hi,

Since you apparently have more than two TL-PA717 you will have to use the "tpPLC" Utility (can be downloaded via TP-Link's product support website) to diagnose the problem.

Basically, start the tpPLC Utility and verify that the TL-PA717's that connect your PC, laptop and TV box are able to communicate with the TL-PA717 that connects to your main router.

For example, in the screenshot below, if we assume "Device_1" is connected to the main router, then an arrow (and reasonable Mbps value) has to be shown between between "Device_1" and each of the other Powerline adapters, because "Device_1" is the one through which the main router provides DHCP (for IP assignments) and Internet.

Hi@eastendanto,

Thank you for contacting our community.

If you are experiencing issues with the Ethernet connection on your TP-Link powerline device, follow the troubleshooting suggestions below:
1. Try using a different Ethernet cable, switch to another Ethernet port on the powerline device if any, and test with a different wired client device.
2. Reboot Devices: Reboot both your wired client device and the pwerline device. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
3. Test with Another Device: Connect another wired devices to the powerline device using the same Ethernet cable and port. If the Internet works on the other device, the issue lies with the initial device. Contact the technical support of that device for assistance.
4. Check IP Configuration: Ensure that the wired client device is set to obtain an IP address automatically.
    1) For Windows: Go to the Network Connection Details page and verify that "DHCP enabled" is set to "Yes."
    2) For Mac: Navigate to Network > Advanced and confirm that "Configure IPv4" is set to "Using DHCP."
