Hi,

My powerline adaptor works well for a few hours then drops.  Connection then seems to fluctuate on and off a bit but more off than on.

The 2 adaptors are on different distribution boards, so there will be RCBs between them.  I read that this can affect things, but why is it stable for so long and then suddenly becomes unstable?

I don't need super fast speed, I just need a reliable connection of a couple of Mb would be fine.

I suspect the different distribution boards is the main culprit, but I'm not 100% convinced.

Anyone got any pointers for me?  (I had a quick look round the forums but couldn't see a similar problem)  I read something about powersave mode but I had a look in the settings and I couldn't find it - is it applicable for my model?

Having to install an ethernet cable along my house is what I was hoping to avoid.  Does anyone have any tips for how to bridge powerline across distribution boards? (if that genuinely is the problem)

Many thanks!

Rik

Hi@RikMcC,

Thank you for contacting our community.

If you are experiencing an unstable internet connection on your TP-Link powerline devices, or the Powerline LED frequently turns off, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
    1. For wired powerline adapters, check if Power Saving Mode is enabled. You can disable it using the tpPLC utility. Refer to this FAQ for detailed instructions: How to enable/disable power saving mode on powerline adapters
    2. Move the powerline extender closer to the router and the powerline adapter. Placing them in the same room for testing.
    3. Test the internet connection by connecting your client devices directly to the main router. This will help determine if the issue is specific to the powerline connection or if it's a problem with the router itself.
    4. If the problem seems to be isolated to a specific client device, try connecting that device to a different network to see if the issue persists. Additionally, you can try using different Ethernet cables or ports for wired client devices to rule out any potential cable or port issues.
