I have been doing some digging and apparently the W8960 range, including v5, should provide loopback support natively, however other than others reporting it not working, I have not been able to find a resolution.

I have just install the latest firmware build 141107 release 34856 as I read in a 14*** build, loopback was fixed but it still does not seem to be working. I was previously on a 13*** build.

Is NAT loopback officially fixed on this router? If so, is there any way of resolving this problem for me?

I do not have the opportunity to reset my router until after the weekend so ideally I would like to do it with the existing settings in place, restarts are OK.

NAT Loopback is supported if you have upgraded the latest firmware.
Reset and reconfigure it to see if it works.
By the way, how did you test it?

I have an existing website hosted on my internal network and a NO-IP DDNS account. Testing is simple, just use the external hostname from any machine within the local network. Did not want to reset the config but looks like my only option. Will give it a go.

I have reset the router using the option in the settings menu, manually reconfigured all settings, rather than restoring from file, and still have the problem.

Using port 8081, I can access the web server from an external device but not using the same url from within my network.

Did you test with http://WAN IP: port instead of url locally?

http://LAN IP: port works locally, right? But if you test it remotely with http://WAN IP: port, it works indeed?
Check IP settings on your local PC including default gateway and DNS server.
If they are all correct but loopback won't work. submit a ticket here.

Sorry for the late response but i am not getting notification mails for this forum. The wan ip address and ddns just bounce me back to the router configuration page. Not the webserver as expected, all configuration is correct, also happens when using dhcp instead of static. I'll raise a ticket.

Thanks

Which port did you open for the server on web interface of W8960N?
You enabled remote management? http://www.tp-link.com/en/faq-308.html

OK, guys I know it's been a while as I have had a lot going on lately and looking at this again. I have no remote management enabled and forwarded port 80 to the webserver. I have completely flattened the router and left everything but LAN address and port forwarding and still get the same results.

I noticed something new though, using the WAN IP address redirects me to the router admin page (not the webserver as expected) and I can log in and perform all admin functions, when I connect using my ddns address I get the router admin logon page but it is missing some page artefacts and when I log in I get "connection reset".

I am raising a ticket with support anyway but will track any progress here.
