  @josehill Thanks for summarizing my post, but I don't get why people should vote for another feature request, when mine is the original one and already available with more votes. That said, it probably doesn't hurt when more people get to know about this issue before apple finally removes this feature in macOS 27, so thanks still :)!

  @C-Link Sorry about that - copy/paste error! I fixed it. I mostly wanted to clarify that there is no need for APFS-formatted drives when backing up to a router-connected drive over a network.

  @Crosbie I just recently bought this router in the hopes of using my existing hard drive to back up wirelessly. Is there any solution to this?

  @codernoel It works for now, just probably won't on the next MacOS update. Unless TP-Link update the firmware. So the more of us who contact them to request this, the more likely it will be.

The router uses SMB for other shares, so I would hope that this isnt too large an ask...

  @C-Link

thanks so much for capturing exactly what the issue is.

I have a BE63 and trying to use a USB connected SSD for Time Machine.
I formatted the SSD ExFAT so I'm able to see it in Deco app. I enabled Time Machine from deco app. The broadcast on Bonjour is strictly to the AFP address. Even when I have a SMB address for the disc, which I configured on Mac, TM doesn't see it. So, Deco needs to broadcast the SMB address over Bonjour. I had to turn off TM enable from Deco to turn off the AFP address so that Im not confused as to which mounted disc I use.
It's a mess. currently, starting a TM backup on Deco connected SSD is not possible. It's only possible if you already have a SSD with existing TM backup (and it has to be exFAT disc). We, for sure, need Deco support to be able to do TM backups.

TP Link please help!

It only works now if you happen to have an existing TM backup on ExFAT disc. This way you can connect the disc to Deco and then TM will detect it and be able to continue backups to it. But TM will refuse to start new backups using broadcast disc because broadcast now is strictly over AFP.

  @David-TP if they are able, i hope they can work out support on other devices besides deco, ax3200, for example. :-)

thanks
