Hello, i have fiber for internet at the speed of 300Mb, and two m5 units. One connected by cable to the router. When running speed test by either ookla or deco i get apeed of about 100Mb, why i can't get closer to 300Mb?

Hi, can I have the firmware version of the Deco M5?

Did the slow speed start recently?

 

It is also suggested to use a new Ethernet cable to connect the main Deco M5 to the ISP router.

By the way, do you have a wired computer? How much speed is the PC when it is connected directly to the ISP router?

Thanks for fast response

All Deco's M5 have the same firmware 202440719 rel 7098 1.7.8

The internet program is 300Mb

The ookla speed test by wired computer is 301Mb

The router WiFi is off.

The router is connected to the main deco wia coax cable with two MOCA 2.5 at both ends.

WiFi speed tested  today by Ookla and by Deco app. is around 100Mb

Have you tried to set Deco into "Access Point" mode?

Is the current network topology like:

Thanks for responding,

My mesh network consist of 3 M5 units bought during the last 2-3 years, all of them configured as access points.

One unit is connected just like in your drawing, second one connects via Wi-Fi, and the third one is connected to the router with cat 5 Ethernet cable.

During the weekend I reinstalled the network in the above configuration with the Deco application, and now I measure with Ookla a speed of around 180Mb and 295Mb with Deco application.

What can cause this big difference?

Hi, thanks for the update.

"Test Internet Speed" checks the network speed between the main Deco and the ISP router, while Ookla tests the speed from the client to the connected Deco, which has a slight difference. If the tested client is not connected to the main Deco, the speed gap would be more obvious. Then, the used speed test server also matters.
