Model: TL-MR110
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.5.0

Hello,

I just bought a TL-MR110 router that I plan to use at school. I want to setup the DNS server from DNS0 for kids (193.110.81.1 and 185.253.5.1).

In Advanced > Network > LAN settings I configured the primary and secondary DNS and saved, but the status page still shows other DNS servers).

Any idea why and how to fix it? Thanks!

Hi, welcome to the community.

4G/5G routers didn't support customizing IPV4 DNS Servers that will show up under the Internet Status page.

Many other 4G/5G routers have a similar limitation. I think it might affect overall monthly data usage, especially when there is a limited data plan.

Several Google searches also highlight the security concern:

  • Security and Stability:

    Carriers may enforce their DNS servers to ensure a more secure and stable network experience for all users, potentially mitigating risks from malicious DNS servers

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

Hi, Thanks for you reply! It's very disappointing. I don't understand why TP-Link would provide the option to customize DNS servers if it has no effect. Any idea about a way to force that ? Some kind of "I know the risks" option?

  @Romain_T

I was able to solve the problem for myself by connecting an existing TPLink DSL router to my 4G router, and the configured WAN port in this device now forwards requests to my own preferred DN servers.
