Model: Archer C80
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.14.3 Build 241025 Rel.69449n(5553)

Hi,

I cannot open certain range of ports on my router, and the ones that I'm able to open aren't working as intended it seems like something is blocking them from being connectable.

Honestly, this router has given me so many issues I have had it changed two times. And I've already pulled my hair fixing another issue I had with this router which you can find here: https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/622176?replyId=1277058

I was on a beta firmware that was provided to me by a dev at TP-Link. I decided to upgrade the beta firmware because it had TP-Link watermark all over it, and boy it was a wrong decision.

Anyway, the error I get while I try to open a port is " Conflicting with existing port: 8211. To avoid conflict, please enter another value."

I do not have such port opened for it to conflict.

Hello@SaurabhS ,

Welcome to our community.

Have you modified the port forwarding settings recently? Please change the port forwarding settings to another port and compare.

Or, have you added any new network devices, causing the network topology to change?

Did this situation start after updating the Beta firmware? If so, please provide the beta link so that I can confirm your firmware version.

Thank you.

  @Joseph-TP

Hi,

I haven't modified any port forward settings recently.

I've tried to open 57812, but it doesn't work. Ports like 1701 wasn't working either but I saw a guide somewhere here that said disabling IPSec Passthrough would fix it, and it did fix some ports, but for the rest I sitll get "Conflicting with existing port: 57812. To avoid conflict, please enter another value."

The issues started occurring after I updated to the following firmware version:

1.14.3 Build 241025 Rel.69449n(5553)

Before that I was using this firmware "c80v2-up-noboot_2023-09-28_14.47.56.bin" which was provided to me by a TP-LINK dev for another issue I was having with the same router. I decided to update it to 1.14.3 and it looks like update broke port forwarding.

Hi @SaurabhS ,

Here are some tips for you if port forwarding doesn't work:
    1. Make sure the server is accessible from the internal network.
    2. Make sure your router obtains the public WAN IP address; if your WAN IP is not a public one, port forwarding will not work. (CGNAT address is also a private IP address that ranges from 100.64.0.0 to 100.127.255.255.)
    3. Check the firewall settings of your server, make sure it allows traffic from the outside Internet.

    4. May I know if your network topology diagram is as follows: ISP modem—C80 )))((( client devices

(Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection )

You may check more detailed instructions following the FAQ: Why port forwarding feature is not working on my Wi-Fi router or Deco?

  @Joseph-TP Hi,

So as I have mentioned before I haven't changed anything in terms of setup. The only thing that was updated was the firmware.

1. Yes, server's accessible.

2. Yes, my WAN IP is not a public IP. I pay for a private static IP.

3. I've made exceptions in firewall settings for the apps that I want to allow traffic on.

4. As for my setup I have a fiber optic coming in my home that is connected to my ISP's ONU device, that goes in my C80 which is connected to my PC, and the same C80 is connected to another area with another C80 and every other device is connected wirelessly.

My main concern is that everytime I try to open certain range of ports it says "Conflicting with existing port", but I do not have any exisiting ports open.

  @SaurabhS

Try disabling the C80 UPnP feature and test again. UPnP feature is opening ports upon client devices' request and they are already open:

hello@SaurabhS ,

Thanks for your reply.

Have you turned on the UPNP for comparison?

Would you mind hard resetting the router and setting port forwarding only again? Please test if the issue persists.

So I have done some testing after disabling UPnP and it is working so far, and I'm not getting the conflicitng error.

Hello@SaurabhS ,

Is the port forwarding setting working correctly after you disable the UPnP? If so, there may be an overlap between UPnP dynamic port mapping and manual port forwarding rules.
We recommend continuing to monitor this issue and please contact us if there are any updates.

  @Joseph-TP Hi

So the error "Conflicting with existing port:  To avoid conflict, please enter another value" only shows up when UPnP is enabled because it opens up those ports automatically for me.

The problem with disabling UPnP is that some online games dynamically open the ports through UPnP so when I disable it the games are not able to run as they are supposed to because of NAT issues.
