Model: TD-W9970
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 1.6.0 0.9.1 v00a1.0

Hi,

I've recently set this new Modem Router and seems to have lower than expected Wi-Fi speed.

Wired connection is typically 60-70Mbps, which is as expected from the ISP.

Wi-Fi connection is typically 10Mbps tested with multiple devices at various distances to the router.

Are there some settings I should check?

TIA

Hi @punter99 ,

Welcome to our community!

Have you tried different wireless clients for comparison?

Please review the following troubleshooting steps:
    1. Simplify network topology by connecting one device to the TP-Link modem via wireless, and do the speed test three times without doing any high-bandwidth activities like P2P download. Take screenshots.
    2. Check the wireless link speed and take screenshots. Please refer to this FAQ: How to check the associated/link speed on a wireless client
    3. Change Channel Width, 2.4GHz→40MHz, 5GHz→80MHz, refer to this FAQ: Changing Channel and Channel Width
    4. If end-devices support 5GHz as well, connect to 5GHz to check if it’s better or not.

@punter99 You can also check for QoS settings. Or maybe reset the router, and test wifi speed right away (backup your settings before doing that, just in case resetting doesn't fix the problem). When resetting, change Wifi password just to be sure nothing else is using your bandwidth.
