Model: Deco X50-5G
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: Idk

The SMS function on the Deco x50 5g works fine but it needs the ability to notify if there's a new message. Other functions, like when a new device connects to the router, notify as a popup on a smartphone. This popup would be perfect for new SMS too.

While we're about it: Ability to export messages manually and automatically. Maybe email all new unread messages.

A web interface for SMS would be good too. At the moment it needs a smartphone with the Deco app. A web interface could allow more control over sending and receiving messages. Adding contacts, sending to more than one contact, sending bulk and scheduled messages. More organisation of conversation messages. Sending messages using 'lookup' tables and with variables would be possible too. Maybe it could be deployable as a service on the router with an API key and programming commands.

I'd settle just for notifications for now though.

Oh, I might have a message, I best go a check now!

Thank you all in advance for your kind attention.

  @Key000

Hi, welcome to the community.

Pop-up notification for new SMS seems great, and I'll record it first in the weekly community summary.

Would there be any reason that you wish to check the unread SMS in an email instead of via the Deco APP? It seems more straightforward to use the APP.

It is unlikely to introduce extra features on the web UI of Deco. I'll keep monitoring here to see whether other users might have a similar request.

Best regards.

  @David-TP  thanks for the welcome!

Notification of new SMS would be very  useful and what most users would want and expect, I'm assuming.

Using email would be a way of exporting SMS really. Some users might prefer sending all SMS to email. I'm not bothered about email export; happy using the app.

Also if SMS need replies, using the app would be more straight forward otherwise replying through an email server would be more complicated.

However, ability to copy the text in an SMS would be very useful. For example, if someone sends a long url web address to me naturally I would want to copy/paste. Typing out long urls is not something anyone should be doing!  In fact if the app recognised urls then it could make them touch/clickable and launch it in the default browser for smartphone. But I'd say copying text is still necessary. Pasting works when composing a SMS.

Thanks, Key.
