Hi

One, maybe stupid question - what have you set in fields Preferred DNS and Alternative DNS?

I can’t even get connected to check the settings. Next time I get a window where it’s stable I will check. What should it be?

  @Cinneide

In the past, on older firmware my router had some kind of freezes, very often; it was when I didn't fill DNS addresses during network configuration. It helped a lot when I set both - Preferred DNS and Alternative DNS to google addresses. Preferred DNS I have set to 8.8.8.8 and Alternative DNS I have set to 8.8.4.4. From that moment I have less restarts and I observe no freezes.

  @Cinneide

One more thing - if you are using backup functionality, DO NOT set "offline detection" to "double detection" - for me it caused a lot of freezes of whole router. TP-Link Senior Engineer advised me to keep "signal detection" with DNS searching address set to default value (in my case it was "a.root-servers.net")

  @Cinneide

Hi, thank you very much for your time and patience.

I saw you mentioned the ISP is Starlink, which, as far as I know, doesn't provide SIM service. Did you set Deco X50-5G into the "WiFi router" or "Access Point" mode?

(you can find it under Deco APP>More>Advanced>Operation Mode)

Usually. Starlink also provided a WiFi router in the satellite package. It would be better to set Deco into Access Point mode:

How to connect Deco with Starlink

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

  @OeKintaro update. I had to delete my network and restart the whole mesh system. That has solved my issue. Hopefully it won't happen again. I don't want to go through that again.

  @Cinneide Hahaha I have learned the lesson from the past 1-2 years. Never rush to update as things always get worse.

  @OeKintaro @Cinneide

To be honest, I am positively surprised after updating the router on Sunday (3 days ago). From that time I didn't observe any restart. This is of course short piece of time, I will monitor it for next days. If I no restarts for next week, I will turn OFF scheduled daily restarts to check how stable it works.

I am really surprised, especially because @Cinneide has a lot of problems. Probably something specific of the setup / ISP which does not work well with this firmware.

Hi all

Ok, after one week of using this new firmware I am still very positively surprised. So far, no hangs / no random resets for past week. I will continue monitoring for one more week with current settings, if I observe no restarts, maybe then I will disable scheduled daily restarts or switch from daily to weekly to see if it still works.

What I also have observed, the main router doesn't loose topology of the network when switching from WAN to BACKUP. It is positive surprise for me as well. Unfortunately, it looses network topology when switching back, from BACKUP to WAN but it is very minor issue/feature for me. It causes for me that I have to set back connection preferences for few devices after each change 🙈 Would be great if these settings are not lost after every change of the network topology. But like I said, it is minor for me. Don't expect too much 😂

I am so happy that TP-Link probably has finally fixed these restarts after more than year 😊

I was too optimistic 😂

10 minutes ago I had first random restart since I upgraded main router 7 dsys ago. If once per week, sunday morning, it can be acceptable for me 😂 let see what further week will show.
