Model: Archer BE550
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hi, I have an asymmetric internet speed (2500/250). I wanted to limit the upload using QoS, but as a result, a very large bufferbloat (and jitter) appears in all checks. But I found that if I turn off the flow controller on LAN and WAN, then everything becomes normal. Therefore, I have a question to which I have not found a clear answer, is a flow controller needed at home? What is its role in TP-Link routers? Thanks.

Hello@Holiday25 ,

Welcome to our community.

Where are you using the router?  Have you enabled Flow Controller? If yes,please disable it for a try.

  @Joseph-TP I've the same issue after installing the latest firmware 1.1.4 Build 20250813 rel.41793(5553). I've 360Mbps upload and tried to use QoS to limit it to 350 MBps, the upload ping jump above 100ms. If I set the upload to 2500Mbps (port speed), the ping is better than idle ping. OoS was fine on the previous firmware.

  @Joseph-TP I would also like to know if having the flow controller disabled on the LAN and WAN causes problems on a home network.

  @Flipe

This post is a month old. We updated the firmware for Archer BE550 in September. Please update to the latest firmware for comparison.

1.2.1 Build 20250813 rel.27119 for US version;

1.1.4 Build 20250813 rel.41793 for EU version.

  @Flipe,

There's no explicit mention of a flow controller causing the issue.

I have replied to you in another post. It is recommended that you reply in a single post. In case I missed your reply.

Experiencing a very similar issue on BE800 V1. I get huge jitter and packet loss and disabling Flow Controller for WAN fixed the issue.

Running latest firmware (1.2.4 Build 20250414 rel.18315(5553)).

Hello @Ryan_J ,

Thanks for contacting our community.

Have you created an EasyMesh Network?

May I know if your network topology diagram is as follows:

ISP modem—BE800)))((( client devices

(Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection )

Have you tried to contact local support before?

Best Regards.

  @Joseph-TP No EasyMesh and the topology is correct.

   What is "local" support?

   EDIT: Providing additional context:

Buffer Bloat w/Flow Controller On With Flow Controller On - Note the Buffer Bloat on Upload

No Buffer Bloat w/Flow Controller off With Flow Controller Off - No Buffer Bloat but Upload is dropped to 1/4 of it's speed with Flow Controller on.

QoS makes no difference in either scenario. This is on symmetrical gigabit Fios.
